Non football related I am afraid. Though I would not mind LFC signing some of the players he represents
I have believed for a long time that all agents should be employed by the authorities (Fifa, UEFA, individual FAs, etc). All players must be represented by a recognised agent and the authority gets a percentage of the transfer fee to cover the cost (or just take it out the TV billions). Aka eliminate individual transactions with agents altogether and make 100% about the player.
In 2019 FIFA endorsed establishing a cap on agents' commissions but it's thought not to be legally enforceable as court cases could be brought for what would effectively be deemed price fixing. That probably means that none of the football governing bodies would want to take it on. For what it's worth I think what you proposed is a good idea.
Rather than imposing the rules on players, they'd need to somehow impose it on clubs. Agents could even be extremely well paid (for example £1m per annum which is clearly easy too much) and it would still save a fortune!!!
I think agents fees is just one example of the balance being swung in favour of the player and it happened a good while ago. I don't know how clubs get it back.
I think I remember reading that we spent more on agents fees than any other (English?) club. We've also been known to tap players up too. Both those things suggest we now know how to play the stuff system to our advantage. Maybe changing the way agents work would be a disadvantage to us?
I get the impression there are alot of clubs releasing stories that they're 'interested' in Brewster in an attempt to unsettle him. Trying to give him the idea he'd be a regular at a 'lesser' prem club so that he forces a loan or transfer. Frankly we've given no indication we would sell or loan, the only reason he was loaned out last season was to gain fitness after his injury.
Thats it exactly, I paid attention to the Thiago rumour for about a week when it 1st emerged then I got annoyed it hadn't happened then I remembered that we keep transfers so close to the chest nowadays (mostly) there's no point in stressing about it. Weed also helped
I really don't know. I can only presume that the way we go about it suits all parties because we won't be held to ransom on any deals. Agents get more fees every time a contract is renewed as well so maybe we have more renewals than other clubs.
