Mason Mount admits he ‘couldn’t get near’ Thiago Alcantara during Chelsea’s defeat to Bayern Munich https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ts-near-Liverpool-transfer-target-Thiago.html
Chelsea,United and Manchester City will like to sign any player associated with Liverpool who is stopping them?.
Jurgen Klopp is supported. https://www.thisisanfield.com/2020/...rgen-klopp-as-best-we-can-in-transfer-market/
Unless Barca grant him a free transfer (not likely), I don't see him leaving; no one is going to pay the amount Barca want (ignoring the ridiculous $700m release clause), especially when you consider the wages too.
he’ll go for a nominal figure if he goes at all imo. Lots of good players coming onto the market right now. Christian Eriksen is the latest name rumoured to be available.
I just don't see him leaving unless he's granted a free. I think he was probably eyeing up China or USA
Come Jan 1st he can sign a pre contract agreement with another club, so he’s devaluing rapidly over the next 4 months like. Plus if he downs tools for the season Barca are lumping out a further £50-60m to keep an unhappy player for a final season. Unless there’s a massive change in stance he’s more likely to go than stay imo. You have to wonder why Barca allowed him to enter his last year as well.
he’s had a clause allowing him to leave for free for the last 2 seasons hasn’t he? So allowing him to run his contract down wouldn’t make a difference, in a normal year he’d have buggered off if he wanted to anyway!
He obvs had one this year, I wasn’t aware that he had a similar clause last year as well, I’d very much doubt it tbh. I find it odd that if he wanted to exercise that clause, then why didn’t his representatives speak to Barca before the Jun 10th deadline, which given the lockdown and the fact that the CL wasn’t restarting until August, could then have been extended until after the finish of the CL. If they didn’t say a word then he was either obvs intending staying or his management team lead by his old man, ****ed right up. Either way he’s not got a leg to stand on legally. If they did have those conversations then we’ll likely hear about it very soon. My gut feel is that he’ll still move this window. I think the damage is done.
been well reported that he’s had it in his contract the last few years but obviously not wanted to go until now.
Messi had the clause inserted into his contract in 2017 that stated he could leave for free at the end of every season should he want to.
According to who though? I fail to see why Barca would agree to him leaving at any season end since 2017 for nothing, whilst simultaneously insisting on a £600m release clause, makes absolutely no sense.
The reports about the enormous release clause all mention the termination clause. Messi had to let the club know by the end of May each year whether he intended to activate the termination clause ie before the transfer window opens. Presumably if he didn't let them know in time then the release clause takes over.
It doesn’t. But it applied this year too. Reality is none of us will ever know. Whatever, you’re right, it’s a massive screw up on his side for allowing it to get to this stage.
The reported date was June 10th in the final year of his contract. The release clause would have been rendered worthless for the entirety of the deal, and I’m simply not having that was the case.
As others have said, none of us know other than what we read. In my view the termination clause is him saying to them to keep him happy during the season or he will leave for free. Come the end of the season - end of May - he's bound by the release clause. It's a funny arrangement but it does make sense if it works like I just outlined.
