It was an interesting game, it was clear from the start that our pressing wasn't quite there, Gooners played like City out from the back and in a league game we'd have murdered them for it. Some will be worrying about Williams but he has to learn from mistakes and with that goal was it really his fault? They played good football from the back right through us and this is what I mean about our pressing, that wont happen in a league game and then the full back overlapping meant Williams was in 2 minds and Gomez wasn't in position to cover the inside shot. Keita very good, drove us forward and he should start Vs Leeds. The Wijnaldum Milner midfield was a mistake. If the Barca Wijnaldum thing is real we should bite their hands off and get Thiago but let's see.
Disappointing result. I didn't see the match (was out on what was supposed to be a cobweb-blowing stroll, which turned out to be an 11 mile hike and we didn't get back until gone 7!), but caught the penalty shoot-out on Twitter. Seems we were a tad unlucky; unfortunate goal to concede first half, then the penalties didn't go our way. We lost it last year, anyway. 'Tis nought but a fancy dinner plate, but it would have been nice to have won it. The funny thing is since Covid Arsenal have won a lot of ****; even so, I know they'll still bottle next season because it's what they do. We go again.
I can not see how any blame can be leveled at Williams. They had him two on one, gomez again was caught way out if position, if he hadn't been stuck running back from midfield williams can get closer to aubameyang, knowing he can let the runner go. Fro. The arse end of last season going into this, my concerns over Joe have grown snd grown. He's easily turned, tricked and caught out of position. I'm one of his biggest fans but he's been nowhere near his best.
Thats quite reserved for you Wishi ...............You're right though, bring on the defence of our title in two weeks time
He's still young and will improve next to VVD as the season goes on, you don't get many at his age starting for a top team. You could blame plenty of people for the goal, they played it out from their own box and a bit more intensity would have meant a pass would game been cut out at some point.
Yeh, I thought the same bout aubamnyng's goal, not that it was a tap in - credit for a top notch finish from the league's best. But since that City game, Joe has not been himself. And hey, for all Trent's strength's, he has shown a tendency for being out of position, especially to the ball over his shoulder, every game. Williams will be fine.
At first I thought it was a defending **** show as we've been awful in defence of late, but I was put straight: we were unfortunate, that's all. To lose against a crummy outfit like Arsenal isn't great, but still... I was annoyed to see some tweets wanting Klopp Out, though Some are expecting his downfall, like what happened when he was at Dortmund. Over a community shield loss? No. We might not win the title next season, but I wouldn't say no to the FA Cup
Mostly those who wins community shield do not win the league. I expect Arsenal not to win the league.
