Don't get me wrong, he's an excellent CB. Not as good as Virgil, but streets ahead of the likes of Maguire and Chelsea's current CB's. But £70m even if we were rolling in it would be nuts. I'd rather see the Anny Rd get done. I think we're looking for a fourth choice CD @ £20m, at most. See if there is a good'un in the lower leagues. But please God not Diego carlos either, not even at £20m. Just looks like a bigger, CB version of Moreno to me.

I’d take a punt on the young lad who was at Leeds last year - by all accounts, he’s going to be a top player.

Splashing the cash in the current climate is almost immoral. I think the owners should proceed with caution. They are mega rich which doesn't translate to being cash rich at any given time, I know but I refuse to believe they don't have the wherewithall to buy some players. The AR extension is only delayed due to general building difficulties with supply chains etc. it's still going ahead.

I wouldn't say it's immoral for other clubs desperate to catch up, or even for City wanting to get ahead now that they have no FFP or scrutiny to worry about. But for us it's just nuts. Covid has hit us bad - it's the same tide for everyone though. Luckily, we're in sound financial strength to get through it - we're not skint, but we will be if we do a Chelsea or what Uniturd are saying they want to do.

Not cheap though, and plenty of competition for him. Better deal for us though than Koulibaly (no, before anyone mis-interprets that - I'm not saying White is better than Koulibaly).

Covid hasn't hit us (relatively) any worse than any other club. The bigger the club the more lost revenue is logical. Just like you'd expect M&S to have lost more than the corner shop.

Indeed, as I say, the same tide for all. I think we had plans to indulge in at least one marquee player based on the projections of winning the Prem for the first time and what that would reap worldwide - but that was pre-Covid. But it is what it is.

I don't have any doubt that there is cash to spend if need be. But its time to spend clever rather than just spend.
Luckily enough it's one of Klopps best attributes, we only spend big if it's necessary.

I have no doubt that without Covid we would have signed Werner. We had a real interest and no offer was made based on the uncertainty of the situation. The timing was all wrong. I think there's a bit more clarity creeping in now with fixtures being released and also the fact that if we are locked down again, the FA and the government know how to handle and plan for a return.

Do you remember Reginald Perrin's boss CJ with his 'I didn't get where I am today by ......' ? Well that to me is FSG. They didn't get where they are by throwing money at anything that moved. It's worked for them and us so far. I also think they have it in them to step outside the box if required.

What are they saying they want to do mate?
Ole and Ed barely talk to me these days :(

Fair point Diego, I stand corrected - what the MEDIA say they want Utd to do. Six of the best for Donga. And it does hurt me more than it hurts you. :emoticon-0107-sweat

Nope, nothing for months now. Dortmund have said he is going nowhere and i believe them, we have other options i hear though so no problem as long as we fill that wide right spot.

I think the risk on your missing out on him this summer is that the queue will be a lot longer next summer. Win win for Dortmund and Sancho I guess.

Can’t say I’ve seen enough of koudibaly but have to ask how at 29 years old is he still not playing for a top club challenging for the league if he’s as good as being made out. People generally get a big move way before then if they’re good enough?

Ben White. Brighton have really big hopes and by all accounts think that 1 season in the Prem and his value goes up to 40m rather than the 25m being thrown around at the moment.

Messi with £632 million release clause I cannot see any club paying that for 33 years old player.
Manchester City take the lead in the race to sign Messi.
Lionel Messi's dad is already in England to discuss a two-year deal with Manchester City after the Argentina forward, 33, said he wants to leave Barcelona.
If the deal goes ahead, it could cost City £500m. (Telegraph)
