There's always a lot to discuss about the team performances, individual player and manager performances, tactics, mistakes and the dreaded VAR/ref performances. There's also the comparisons with previous matches and seasons etc. Sometimes other threads get side tracked so thought maybe we could try having it all on one thread. Our opening set of games are: Everton home Southampton away Newcastle home Man utd away West Ham home Burnley away Last season we won 2 Drew lost 3 Points 7 Scored 5 Against 6 in this set of 6 games. Guessing that these 6 games will tell us if we are in for a better season!
Are we allowed to mention Poch without getting bollocked like? So far two signings...if other requirements not met, can I refer to my avatar on this thread?
16 points from that lot as we're bound to draw with Burnley due to a VAR goal struck off because Bale's manbun was offside
Think we should discuss everything here...just hoping it stays as a discussion rather than turning into a "you're a Jose or Levy apologist" slanging match ... ain't aiming that at you btw
Securing a backup for Kane suddenly seems a lot more important than ever doesn’t it. Depth is going to be a real test for everyone this season, especially anyone in Europe.
That is a rough, rough schedule. I’m looking forward too it though, but yeah, we absolutely need another striker. Etete may have a real chance of getting minutes too, just hopefully if he does get on the pitch he don’t fluff his lines like last night!
With the new countries seemingly being added daily to the list of places that you have to be quarantined after visiting, and with UEFA ruling that you forfeit the match if you can’t travel due government restrictions do we need a contingency plan to stop this from happening? I have a plan which is loosely based on our ill-fated inter-toto cup campaign where we recruited a number of loans who had never played together and tried to make them into a team. We take a squad of 18 players into Europe and leave them there for September playing in whatever country they need to play and being based somewhere where restrictions are minimal . The 18 would be 9 youth, and a mixture of players we won’t use in Prem/carabao cup Rose, Foyth, and then a couple of the many free agents currently without a club who could be offered a months contract and a couple of fairly recently retired legends also offered a 1 month contract – Crouch and Van Der Vaart come immediately to mind. Sounds like a plan to me! (but halfway through my 2nd night shift I may not be completely with it!) I have just realised that if we get 3 home draws we will giving 18 people (more with ancilliary staff) a months paid holiday in central Europe and we will need a coach (wonder if Harry would be up for it!). Hopefully the more astute of you will have realised by now that I am just bored and that I know that this wouldn't work, but I do think that Rafa and Crouchie would be up for it
On the subject of quarantine: Kane has not been training with the team this week as he is in quarantine
Was just reading that, whilst Harry is a model pro and is probably in excellent condition, this is a worry, as his 2 weeks will be up just as he is due to go off and join up with England ( I am assuming he will be selected!), possibly meaning that he won't do any club training until the last few days before the season starts.
Be very spursy if we get through to the later rounds and then get kicked out because of covid19, I bet it wouldn't happen to £ity man u or liverpool
