Fontwell 1.40 Ben Buie

There are some positive words about this one from the owners site:

"A lovely prospect.
Bought in May 2017, he needed time to develop into his big frame and was brought along patiently for us in Ireland. Put in an impressive debut at Ascot, coming 2nd to high-class Emitom. Lost his way a bit after that, but bounced back with an excellent 3rd behind two top novice hurdlers at Catterick. Sure to progress, particularly when he eventually goes chasing."

Could go well now after a break. Martin Keighly had 11 in the money from 21 runs at Fontwell over the last 5 seasons.

Morning

Paul Hannagan back in the saddle today with two rides at Beverley since breaking his back, back in February. I wonder if he's back with a winner? Anyhow looking at his first ride, MAY SHE SHINE, aptly named in the Nursery I'm not too sure but I'm going to chuck a couple of quid on ew as she is currently 20/1. Just thought be nice to comeback with a winner and also jockey/trainer won this race last year too.

Notebooks out for the Fontwell mares bumper today everyone, this looks a really decent contest. We have 2 first-time winners reappearing in the shape of Lieutenant Henderson's Buttsbury Lady (looked every inch a professional on debut and quickened clear nicely) and George Baker's Kayarnah, who ran a little in snatches on debut before doing all her best work in the last furlong to quicken nicely between horses and take the victory. Both look nice prospects but can either carry the penalty to victory?

The other two in the field with experience are no less interesting. Dan Skelton's Pepite De Belle was 3rd to Buttsbury Lady but didn't have the clearest of passages after the final bend and with the weight pull she can get closer this time. Neil Mulholland has the ex-Willie Mullins mare Some Might Say (by Dylan Thomas) who struggled in 2 runs on heavy ground in Ireland but better ground and the first time hood should see her do much better here.

We then have 5 newcomers from a number of yards who do well in bumpers - Harry Fry's Nellie Kernow, Alan King's Terrafirma Lady, Fergal O'Brien's All Clenched Up and Emma Lavelle's Aurelia D'Or all making appeal. Ryveater from the Gardner yard is probably the only one you'd put a line through.

I think Alan King's Terrafirma Lady will go well on debut but I was very impressed by Kayarnah on debut, particularly the change of gear she showed when switched to grab the lead close home and I think this slightly longer trip will really suit her.

With Alan King making a good fist of the flat at the moment, do you see him targeting the bumpers in the NH season more than sending his horses over the jumps...?? I'm sure I've read a quote from him saying that he intended to cut back on his jumps horses leaning more towards the flat scene...??

Can anyone confirm of know owt…??
 
In the 2.15 at Fontwell Easyrun De Vassy could be the type with much more potential over fences for the Nicholls yard. I don't think Henderson's is nailed on in this.

Money down on the Lavelle horse, do for me
 
Next at Kempton dunkerron coul have a bit more with the drop in class and run well here in a class 3 coming second .the mark now looks very exploitable and 14s is ew friendly . Interesting booking too

In the last at Kempton I'll take a chance on Alan King's Her Indoors. Looks to have a nice each way chance on tonights handicap debut. Could have needed run last time out at Windsor after a break (4th).
