just got back from Cardiff and im pretty pissed off.
Last night at half time i was going to buy a drink for my younger brother when a steward came up to him and told him to not have any more, i didnt think it was serious, so i brought them anyway, Upon buying them my brother was talking to the steward asking why, The steward, who was the head steward for the away section asked my brother to talk away from the stadium as he couldn't hear. Once he took my brother away behind the burger van he called over 6 police officers and accused him of underage drinking in the ground, Even though i had only just brought the beer and still had it in my hand. This caused him to be ejected from the ground. I then started arguing with the same steward outside when i clearly had two full pints. And so far had not broken any rules, I then turned around as i heard someone score and realised they'd shut the gates behind me and wouldn't let me into the ground.

Atleast i didnt see us lose.

Always an idea to carry of age around with you like most people do. I always carry my DL photocard around with me and it just cuts down on the arse ache when you get challenged.

Ridiculous.

Power freaks.

That really does take the piss, especially tricking him out of the ground.

I was successful with some underage drinking ;)

Unlucky though mate, but as you said, the atmosphere in the ground was gutting.

Stewards are an odd bunch, aren't they? We should have a thread on "Grounds where stewards are OK". The contrast never ceases to amaze me, as someone who hasn't needed an ID for a few decades now. If asked I'm sure someone would have told you that Cardiff would not have been on the list (they hate the English in general and Southern English in particular!). Back in the Prem days I never ceased to be shocked by the behaviour of stewards at Bolton, whereas you could have a laugh with stewards at, say, Anfield and Old Trafford.

Sounds like a typical over-reaction if little brother was not frightening old ladies or pets.

"There's these two bouncers. One of 'ems allright the other one's the scary un. It's his his way or no way - totalitarian" (Arctic Monkeys)

Like club bouncers, stewards have to be read!

To be honest it looks like an old ploy........You take a guess that someone is underage.......you bate them and say they should not have any more. The fan tells you to walk off with jerky movements, next minute the heavies are ejecting you. Then friends or family protest, an argument ensues and all are ejected. Sounds like you met a "Jobs worth" All grounds have got them, you have now experienced it. You will be a lot more careful next time won't you?

Im underage and managed to get served for alcohol in cardiff and drunk it having a chat with some stewards. Disgrace what happened to you after paying all that money those stewards are disgraceful

Don't go bragging about that, it's not to be proud of. That's illegal. If they stewards or police had found out your age, they'd probably have ejected you too - and rightly so.

Just be content that you clearly found some laidback stewards.

Underage drinking is illegal as is an over 18 buying alcohol for minor. If you don't do it, you don't break the law and you don't get ejected from football stadiums, simple as.

I don't get it. Was he actually underage? As defenses go, standing there with a full pint claiming you haven't drunk any of it yet is not the best one I have ever heard.

So is seems the stewards are a disgrace for doing their jobs correctly.

All of this ^^

All of this ^^

If you go on to the Cardiff 606 site, their supporters are highly critical of the stewardship in their areas too, so it seems not only in the visitors end there are jobsworths out to spoil the occasion. You cannot tar them all with the same brush but seems there is room for improvement.
