Clearly you can’t say anything and that’s fine. But from what you’ve heard, are we in for any sort of good news? This bloody club will be the death of me, I swear!!
I'm quite encouraged but Donald is the fly in the ointment. FPP wanted the club and had serious plans but Donald scuppered that deal. He's dragging his heels again which is a worry but he definitely wants out.
You went on there to wind people up. Now you’re on here to stir a bit more up. You need to get a life to be honest.
There’s a difference between questioning authenticity and pouring scorn. You’ve been biased toward the latter. You, and others over there, expect authenticity to be provided, impossible in almost every case, and when you don’t get it,so you resort to scorn far too readily.
Surely you'd need contrary information to do that ... ... otherwise you're simply doubting people's integrity. Cynics might believe that 'causing a wee storm' was your intention from the start.
Oh god, a fake William Storey account has appeared! Suppose it was always just a matter of time, but doesn't seem necessary when his real account is so mad to begin with!
You can't say this close season has been boring No idea where Adam Ant fits into all this tbh, I'm a bit lost with it all ...
Aye, might be wrong but that read to me as if people had read the rumour on SMB, added the "billionaire" bit and then tweeted the lad asking if he knew anything about it (because he is based in dubai and seemed to know about the FPP bid last time), then he's used the same wording back. Hopefully wrong like but I didn't get the impression he knew there were billionaires involved, if he does that's the first time I've seen it mentioned
You're right he said nothing about actual worth and only that they are minted. Mind, in footballing terms and more to the point ownership, you aren't really minted unless billions are involved which will be why people have jumped to that conclusion
It's a strange scenario - there's the price he wants for the club but if he's that desperate to get out surely you would take the price that comes as close as you can get to the asking price and have done with it. Yep we're not talking about a few quid here but would it be worth all the hassle to not getting a decent enough deal done and just hanging on to the club with no interest in it
Yeah, agree with that and it's certainly the assumption I'd jump to for much the same reasons as yourself. I'm just anxious because I don't know who told him it, if it's someone who doesn't normally associate with millionaires he might think having 100m makes you minted! Just anxious that people don't get too excited in case the reality is a little bit more mundane. I'll be happy with wealthy people from that region as long as they have vision and a plan for the club, I'm sure others could get involved later with more funding if it was going well. I'm optimistic because it all sounds good, but in terms of wealth I'm not thinking FPP levels (who knows, it might be that FPP keep the loan and are the next level that these lads can sell to, I've said for a while that it wouldn't surprise me to see Madrox sold and fpp still around, fingers crossed)
I think the issue is twofold. Firstly, financially I think he likely can afford it for this season and he knows that if we get promoted he'll have more chance of getting his profit next season. He wants out but having installed Rodwell its not like he even needs to come to Sunderland again, he can sit in Oxford and wait it out. The other issue is that in football you get a lot of fantasists, he probably thinks he can get his desired price because he'll keep having people like Storey suggesting they will pay it but never actually providing proof of funds. He probably keeps thinking the next person will produce the funds and he'll ride off into the sunset. He can't keep us long at this level, but I doubt he'll bail out for a loss now, which is likely why FPP are unlikely to buy this time, they aren't going to increase from what they thought it was worth last time
Desperately hoping so marra. I’m optimistic about this too, but hopes have been cruelly dashed before.
