Hi all, We havent done a thread like this in a while! Given that I've been doing the Mod role for a fair while now - think it's about 7 years without much input. I generally tend to use the sticky feature far more than anything else but at least I had a great seat for the Swans board implosion a couple of years back @taffthefish has also held the role for a while but hasn’t been seen since April, so think it’s time for a bit of a freshening up on that front. I've agreed with Sparkey that both myself and Taff shall step down and that we need to find a replacement (I dont think we need three mods) to join Sparks in carrying on with the superb job that he's been doing (picking up a lot of my slack ). Not exactly sure what the best format is for selecting a suitable replacement (perhaps we shouldnt give @Masky the power to make things 'sticky' ) but a discussion with some nominations would be good a place to start. It's been a honour to serve and I'm sure that Taff would echo that Sheep
Sheepy mentioned this to me about a month back. We can't' contact Taff for some reason so he's not really in a position to look after the board if required. I'm happy to carry on on my own if Sheepy and the absent Taff bow out. To be honest, this board needs very little attention and what needs to be done is quite mundane and rarely confrontational. Most of it revolves around tidying up the board, merging and sticking threads etc. Issues do crop up now and again and the odd dispute needs to be resolved locally, or sometimes through the supermods. Sometimes you need to take the flak. As I said, there's no big deal on this board unlike the **** that goes down on a number of others populated by confrontational posters and visiting cyber jockeys. We're a fairly quiet forum and not like some hyperactive ones that need multiple mods to sort the dross out. If someone wants to come on board to assist if necessary then that's fine, but there's no point in being a board mod if you're rarely on here to pick up the odd problem. It's not a 24/7 job but you need to be about.
A massive thank you to Taff & Sheep both have done a great job for many years. Agree that Sparks can do the job on his own
We're a very (mostly) well-behaved crew but I echo the thanks from Dai to Messrs Sheep and Taff. I also agree that Sparkey has a very good handle on our board and hope that he will long continue to reign over us. Indeed, great thanks are also due to said Sparkey. It's a shame about losing Taff as a contributor. I wonder if there's some way of seeing if he is OK.
On the subject of Taff.......he used to have a couple of blogs listed at the bottom of his posts....but they seem to have disappeared. I half-remember that he mentioned going somehwere else from his usual Thailand spot and that contact would be more intermittent......but I can't find that post either. Hope he's OK.
Need to keep an eye on OS if he is to be Captain Solo though, some of the great menaces of the world started off in a similiar way! Noticed no one has come in for Masky or Aberdude! Nice one BS and Taff!
Many thanks to Sheep an Taff (who I hope is ok). Sparkey - keep up the stirling work. Maskey for El Presidento ( but not saying where!)
