Quite the opposite - it feels very real, very usual. No comment, no statement from the PL or from NUFC. PL get away with it - they never "failed it", which I said they wouldn't ages ago.

Seems to me what I thought would happen - the big 6 didn't want this to happen, and it hasn't. At least that's the ****ing end of it.

They decided to just sit on it and over time the consortium got unsettled

I do agree with Chaos, it's a very sad indictment of football that we were praying for Saudi Arabia to control the club.

Personally I'd be happy with our own version of the ambition seen at Wolves, Everton, Sheff U, etc. I just cannot stomach any more Ashley austerity. It's like being run by Tories.

Can't blame Ashley or the Saudis for this.

Sounds like the PL cartel has applied enough pressure to prevent it. You only have to look at recent events with City to see where the power lies.
I actually feel sorry for Ashley - he wanted to sell up, he found a buyer and the deal was essentially ****ed by the PL. Just hope he realises that if he wants to sell still he needs to ensure we stay up. Nobody will be buying Championship clubs for decent prices in current climate.
Ownership by a sovereign entity was not a problem with City or PSG but now they think it is an issue.
The only sad thing about the buyers pulling the plug is that the PL now dont have to give an explanation for why they wouldn’t sign off.

Nah I'm positive and ambitious. I think we'll get 14th next year.

This is precisely what I'm not willing to suffer anymore. I want training ground investment, a proper professional set-up, some ambition and decent football. We're stuck one more with one-man board Charnley, Ashley's austerity and Steve ****ing Bruce. i'm simply not enough of a sado-masochist to follow this club anymore.

Quite true. The PL just dragged it out for to long. Which was probably the plan from the get go.

I can’t see Ashley liking this though. He wanted out this time and he is probably not happy with that.

At least I get one wish - I get to see what the fallout from it being rejected is.

Odd thing is the statement from Jamie Reuben - no blame at the door of Ashley or the PL, rather blaming the current climate and uncertainty. I don't quite understand that at all. Equally bizarre is two brothers worth £10bn, more than double Abramovic, not going alone if they were so set on it.

Very, very, very odd.

PL clearly to blame for dithering.

Don’t believe that, if you want it, you wouldn’t walk away.

Sure they will be putting a legal case against the PL now?

To be fair, neither did John Henry. And on the flipside, QPR's owners are worth an awful lot more than the owner of Chelsea.

I hope Tel's right, but I expect this Mauriss will disappear quicker than the Saudis just have.

I can't be arsed with a takeover.. Only an insignificant one will be approved. The leagues littered with owners with many billions.. The gap is enormous from where we are.. So what's the point? Newcastle is exactly what the Premier league wants it to be.. 52 k it's got the look of a big game but in reality it's small fry.. Its good for TV

You would think. I mean yes he has his 17m. But the club will now plummet in value. He can’t get access to his cash.

He may have invested expecting to receive the funds from the sale.

I bet the Government are seething. Saudi investment into the country lost because of a useless dithering ****.

I think they genuinely just couldn't be arsed with it anymore

Lambs to the slaughter.

What’s next. Matty Longstaff to West Ham.
