you appear to be conflating 2 issues here as being overweight does not make you more susceptible to many illnesses/conditions but will adversely effect the outcome .

Being unhealthy increases the chance of illnesses, so I'm going to have to disagree with you there

Not all illness it doesn’t, many illnesses have **** all to do with weight or lifestyle, including circa 60% of all cancers.

Being healthy increases the chance of fighting off illness and survival.

Yeah like motor neurone disease, having a 6 pack will defo help you see that one off.

it's impossible to rule out illness but you increase your chances by being healthy.

I've just eaten an egg salad with a pint of water followed by an orange. This reduces my cholesterol and this reduces the risk of heart attacks and the vitamin c bolsters my immune system to help fight of illness.

I'm not saying even fit healthy people don't get unlucky, but if you're fat and lazy I don't want to here a sob story because you've not looked after yourself that's all.

people live unhealthy lives .. if you take care of yourself your bmi takes care of itself and you have more chance of not being ill and have better longevity. it's amazing how many sick people think they've been unlucky. Some are and I feel for them obvs but far people are just idiots.. no different to alcoholism or drug addicts

my original post

You’re still missing the point. Yes being healthy is sensible and reduces your risks.

But assuming that every person with a chronic condition who is also overweight somehow brought illness upon themselves is a completely false premise.
