Yes, that's the BLM message. Victims for life
Is it though?
What do you think the BLM message is, besides defunding the police and abolishing prison because too many black people (mostly young men) are committing crimes and ending up there?
I’d have guessed the primary message is for black people to be treated equally by the authorities. You’ve had a bee in your bonnet about them from the start.
They are treated equally. They are housed the same and educated the same. But equally, a lot of young black men are involved in crime and have been for decades. I lived in Clapham between 1981 and 1998. It was a mostly white area due to history, though there were Asians living there too. During that time, I was personally aware of about 30 crimes - two of them attempted break ins to my house, five muggings once against my female housemate and another at knife point. The Pakistani run shop four doors down was robbed three times, and with violence. A Chinese lady was violently robbed outside my house. 29 out of 30 of these crimes were committed by young black men who were coming into the area from Brixton.
I love it when I see African Brits succeed, but ultra liberals like you cannot shy away from facts. White Brits rarely offered violence during muggings but gave up their goods. Lately, however, with the gang and drug culture, violence is mainly between young black men and hence the appalling knife and gun death figures among this part of the population. BLM ignore all this
Out of interest, when you look at the appalling levels of crime in Glasgow in the 1990s do you attribute this to the colour of the skin of those offending? Or is that something you only do when black people are committing crimes?
It's not a question of colour, because not all parts of BAME have a tendency towards violent offending. It does seem to be an African-Caribbean problem in the UK, particularly London, and these young men are also now the victims. In the US, it appears to be both African American and Hispanic.

Post 2: "It's not a question of colour"
I'm not going to bother.
They were young black men - that's a fact - but the issue is not simply colour because there are parts of the BAME community - like my Pakistani shop-owner neighbour who was hit over the head and badly injured during one such robbery - that were simply victims.
It's interesting that in Glasgow, the way the matter was solved was that gang members were given a choice: renounce violence and get help into education, training and employment, or face zero tolerance on the street. Yet, BLM are saying - don't be nasty to black offenders, don't search them for knives, defund the police and knock down all jails. The opposite to the solution in Glasgow it seems - but don't you bother about it
Aw poor Tommeh... oh the irony.

"but the issue is not simply colour because there are parts of the BAME community" ... so the BAME community is one homogeneous group?
I'd say the approach in Glasgow with the Violence Reduction Unit is precisely what is needed in London. Holisitc and focused on social care, education and community programmes, which is all completely in line with what BLM stands for.
The BAME communitIES, if you like, are made up of people of colour. Only one part of those communities has a major problem with violent crime. So it's not a colour issue.
How do you justify defunding the police and removing prisons? You conveniently forgot to mention those BLM ambitions
So...if it's not a colour issue, why did you single out the colour of the perpetrators skin?
Here's the website for the Black Lives Matter movement. Do show me where it calls for defunding the police and removing prisons: https://blacklivesmatter.com/what-we-believe/
I'm also perfectly comfortable supporting the broad thrust of a movement - e.g. the push for equal treatment of black people - without agreeing with every word or policy position of that movement. Much like how you can support Brexit without having to support everything Vote.Leave stood for. This has been explained ad nauseam and really isn't that hard to comprehend.
I was using shorthand for - young black men of probable African or Caribbean origin.
We all want equal treatment for every citizen in this country. Interesting that you claim that BLM are not calling for defunding the police - especially when there was such an issue over Starmer rejecting this policy - and then qualify that by stating you don't necessarily support all that BLM stands for. Nice bit of fence sitting there.
