Rather desperate review from Holder. That looked plumb.

Will be more desperate appeals now they get 3 reviews. Always a chance of a no ball...as seen earlier with Woakes

I would say that Broad is on fire. But then again, today is Sunday. And the Sky is blue. And the Pope resides in the Vatican City.

I appreciate that we're only half way through the match, and things might yet change, but this does go to show that you can bowl a side out in England without the use of a spinner.

A world-class spinner like Warne or Murali? Fine, pick them.

A batting spinner, who can feature in your top 7 like Moeen (before his batting fell off a cliff)? Fine, pick them.

An average spinner, who offers little or nothing with the bat? Maybe think twice from now on.

Fabulous bowling by Broad, 6-31. Anyone still think he should be dropped?

England’s batting order will be crucial now. Open with Stokes and Buttler again and declare at tea?

Only if it means getting the best out of him. in subsequent tests. He needs three wickets to join the 500 club, which is a wonderful achievement.

I do hope that we can find a seamer on loan from somewhere over the next few days. Without Abbott, Fidel and even Wheal, our attack looks threadbare. In a normal County Championship, I'm not sure it would even stack up against D2 attacks.

Not sure where Stevenson is. Presumably injured. Again.

If Shaheen Afridi still joins up with us with the t20 (and, after all, unlike the three above, he is actually here in the country right now), that at least still gives us a decent-ish attack there. Afridi, Wood, Dawson and Crane. Would still need one other of course. (Potentially Abbott - he said last week that if he can get a flight over here this week, he should be ready come the t20s.)

I'm inclined to rule out the possibility of us asking a WI or Ireland bowler to stay on as an overseas player for us. Not sure the club would want to incur the costs.
