Replacement official: Matthew Lee.
.

<laugh> Always makes me giggle this name. Takes me back to a few months before my son was born and we were discussing potential names. I already had a girl’s name for years and that was done and dusted! However the boy’s name was proving a little tougher until my wife made a suggestion...

Wife: “What do you think of Matthew?”

Me (suddenly seeing a light): “Yeah, I quite like it. What about if I choose a middle name to go with it? Do you like Lee?”

Wife: “Yes, that’s got a nice sound to it. I like it.”

Me (fist pumps as wife looks away)

Wife (having looked back to see the end of fist pump): “Oh FFS, you want to call him Matt Le, don’t you..... well it’s a No now!”

Damn, I was so close, just premature with the celebration (which ironically is probably how we got to be at that point of our lives in the first place!)

Heady times.

Little Chef was always a treat whenever we went on holiday to Devon when I was small. My sister was obsessed with them whereas I used to be taken to Wimpy for a beef-burger by my Dad as it felt that it was important that I reached 4 stone before I went to senior school. Nowadays, if I lost 4-stone I would probably look quite normal!

Should have had three kids: Matthew, Lee (or Leigh if a girl) and Triss. By the time she figured it out, one of them would be old enough to know their name and you'd be home free.
