Apologies I didn't focus on that bit as I saw what was written previously massively more important and find it strange that is the one of the two points you would pick up on, , it is a bit of an antiquated term and demeaning considering most women work these days and Mrs Hoop for example is a professional in the mental health industry with her own practice, plus we share the shopping duties and I don't particularly want to be referred to as a housewife either

The committee members presenting the Russia report are pretty scathing of the government, using terms like 'shocking' and 'outrage' at the fact that the government actively avoided looking into interference in the Brexit vote.

Yeah but Graham in Dorset has always hated the EU ever since Tesco was forced to only stock straight bananas so any interference didn’t make a difference and anyway Corbyn hates Jews yanno?

The bulk of any trade agreement is actually negotiated by a Civil Service team

There are over 800 agreements, and 70-100 trade agreements specifically, that the UK would no longer be party to and would - if still required - need to negotiate replacements for

Not all of these will come before Parliament due to time constraints / immateriality, but I imagine the key ones will

Khan's record as Mayor hasn't been too bad - as a regular user of public transport in London I can say that the system is better than its ever been for example - but crime, and knife crime in particular, is an area that he has performed poorly

Crime is clearly a very complicated area to tackle and one individual cannot solve every issue, but crime is a growing issue again in London with violent crime especially seemingly getting worse

I'm not sure that a change of mayor alone will have any effect, but Khan is the current incumbent and needs to take responsibility

Indeed but Committee spokesmen (spokespeople?) have a long record of using their 5 minutes of fame to push personal views

I'm not criticising, just noting that this is always worth recognising as bias frequently creeps in without those listening to the messages (general public) realising this

Very much the same as specialists appearing in the media - not everyone will appreciate that their views on a particular matter may be politically coloured. Again, not necessarily a bad thing - a range of opinions and debate is what free speech is all about

Well the report will have been agreed by the whole committee and its conclusion that the government actively avoided investigating Russian interference into the EU referendum is pretty damning. Whether this is considered shocking or outrageous may be open to bias, I suppose. The Labour guy stopped short of saying that Johnson lied about the justifications for suppressing publication, preferring to say that his statements weren't true!

What I gathered from the press conference is that the committee concluded that, given that known interference into the Scottish referendum, there almost certainly was interference into the EU referendum, but that there was no evidence of it because the government had 'actively avoided' looking for it.

A bit like Arsene Wenger not seeing a blatant penalty.
 
in other news, tories plan on including the NHS in a U.S. trade agreement. An amendment to keep the NHS free from foreign influence has been voted down

Nice analogy! We await the government's response. Was the government negligent in failing to investigate possible Russian interference in Brexit? That will be the topic of conversation on this issue now. But the cross-party committee will have to prove its case that there was negligence by omission. It will have to show exactly what the government should have done and failed to do
