The young couple in your example would qualify as an exemption iirc. Though there's not many 17 year old couples who are married I'd wager. Bit different when somebody's over 30 or however old he was.

If you go to another country then its up to you to abide by their laws, even if you don't know them. We kick off when people from other countries don't abide by own laws for whatever reason so there's a "cake and eat it" situation here. It shouldn't bother you, countries have the right to make their own laws, we cannot dictate to them what they should be or complain if members of our country break them. Tough.
It was all exploitative imo. Which is why Maxwell was key to all of it, as she recruited the vulnerable young women and girls who Epstein and his rich mates then shared around. A photo of a teenage girl smiling as a 41 year old Royal drapes himself around her, doesn’t mean she was either happy or not the victim of exploitation.

People can go abroad to countries where the age is lower and legally get married and we will recognise the marriage in the UK but if they are below the age of consent they aren't allowed to have sex even though they are married. Of course, no-one is going to actually check. Pregnancy is the usual way people get prosecuted as the evidence is pretty clear.
