I broke my finger once and went to see one of those old codger GP's. He was a Locum who just came in now and again for a bit of pocket money. He sent me away to start with saying I should just man up. Finger was ****ing killing me two days later so I went back and he said 'oh yeah it is a bit bent isn't it?' I'll send you for an x-ray. Then as he was filling the X-ray sheet out he was laughing as he said 'finger looks deformed' The ****

Anyway, the finger was broken, so they referred me to a hand surgeon. By the time I eventually got to see him he told me it was too late to bother operating on it, but if I'd come to see him straight away he could have done something about it. So I have learned to live with my deformity .....
