Been a hectic few days, so haven't posted on the thread. Disappointing at Newmarket (so much so that i've given up on that system and reduced back the flat systems).

I wonder how much the lockdown has affected the stats. One trainer said on TV that her horses had benefited because it had given their bones/joints time to develop without the stress of training /racing

You are certainly seeing trainers who have had a tough time in the last season or two getting their horses back to form, Amy Murphy and Ben Pauling are both stables that now have well handicapped horses and the horses are running much better than before. Ben Haslam is another one who has started very well and is getting some nice winners and more importantly improvement from his horses.

I think we are seeing some major differences in the juvenile heats on the flat too, we are seeing horses backing up runs more often. We have already seen 263 horses backing up from a debut run 14 days or fewer ago, which compared to full season numbers of previous seasons (699 last season) is very high. Of those runners 26 have won at a strike rate very similar to previous seasons. If you laid all of these horses you'd be nicely up for the season!!

De Barley Basket was a non runner. Then things went positively!!

Tim Rocco won at 6.00 - £29.60 returned
Soldier Of Love won at 3.10 - £15.28 returned
Dear Sire won at 10.39 - £51.09 returned
Yeavering Belle hacked up at 2.53 - £12.51 returned

Shame Amor De Mi Vida and Cool Country could only finish second in their heats (Stick's winner was a horse I also backed in the CC race after the non runner).
