The conclusive evidence is from sports like Taekwondo where colours are assigned randomly for each bout but red wins on points more often. The clincher was a group of olympic judges being shown videos of previous bouts where the colours had been reversed. Red still won!

When it comes to exposing blatant bias and favouritism to certain clubs from the Northwest, United fans are just the same as their Pool counterparts, in complete denial and lightening quick to try and claim it doesn`t go on. A sure fire sign they know that it is indeed, very real.
Or as a counter argument, maybe they have just had good teams for long periods recently?

You may have a point BUT confidence is key here IMO.
As soon as a team go one up they start to play with a certain air and less nerves.
As soon as a couple of results go in your favour , you have an extra spring in your step.
The opposite is also true.
And referees can have a huge influence, both in giving and taking that confidence out your game. Since coming back, we've been on the wrong end of two penalty decisions against UTD ( although the second gets overturned by VAR it still affects confidence and your willingness to tackle in the area).
A good goal wiped off against Sheffield and a red card not given.And today a penalty not given. Those same good players start to doubt themselves and their ability. They will see who the ref is for the NLD and have no confidence.

This is shocking - we all know that's its true and despite supporters of others teams saying that we are obsessed we are on the wrong of these decisions too often.
For the authorities to admit that they were wrong does not make things better.
I believe we are fully within our rights to ask for Oliver to be taken off the our match on Sunday, we should be in communication today with the FA, and with IFAB to state that we have lost confidence in this officials ability to referee our matches in accordance with the laws of the game.

To me it's simple, you use technology to check facts. This is what happens in Cricket and Tennis for example. In football that amounts to checking if the ball is over any particular line. They have changed the rules on handball to facilitate electronic decisions which removes the ability to judge if the handball is deliberate or accidental. They have changed the rule on offsides to exclude the previous, attacker is given the benefit of the doubt.
So what do we have with VAR? We have the decision of the on field referee and the decision of the off field referee. So we have more 'opinions' The referees check each other supposedly, do we really expect colleagues to rubbish each others decisions? Questions of bias are difficult to prove but poor decisions are there for all to see, The last two times we played Sheffield United the game was unduly affected by VAR decisions. One robbed United and the last game robbed Spurs. In both cases the game was spoiled by officials. All VAR does IMO is to reinforce poor decisions and to reduce 'offside' to a farcical fractions of millimetres nonsense.
Slowly football is moving in the wrong direction and the spontaneity of the game, which is what makes it the worlds most popular sport, is gradually being wrung out of it by the interests of 'money' and TV. If the FA and FIFA were really concerned for the 'game' they would reduce the role of VAR to line checking and return the other decisions which have always been about opinion, to the single referee on the pitch. We will still be frustrated by some of these decisions as we always have but they wont have a pseudo endorsement by a pseudo technology solution that just adds insult to injury.

Don't know if anyone has seen this interview, but Jose looked and sounded royally p1ssed off with everything. The FA for bad scheduling, the players for not following instructions, VAR. Think what i found was that he was annoyed at the players for not taking advantage of an out of form team, but qualified some comments for saying that a lot them have run out of gas.
Good post. It slows the game down, means you can't celebrate goals anymore as var has to rubber stamp each one, and we're still getting loads of blatantly wrong decisions. So what's the point?
Completely ruined the game. Doubt I'll go to more than 2/3 matches next season.
Slowing the game is a very good point. We use to have two uninterrupted halves with a half time break. First we had substitutes, that are often used just to disrupt the flow if your team is the one on the wrong end of it. Then we added the 'ceremony' of showing different coloured cards, causing another break in the flow. Then the man with the magic sponge was replaced with an army of medics going through their procedures. Then come VAR for more interruption and finally (for the moment) a drinks break in case the poor darlings get too hot. So football starts to resemble American sports where 'decisions' are interrupted by the odd 5 minutes of so called sporting action.
And that's just the last 50 years. The game of two halves is no more.
