I've been installing for British gas for over 30years they provide a very good service of installing your new boiler. They fit Worcester Bosch boilers but also valiant. The reason is reliability as they make more money if they don't have to keep going back to fix a faulty boiler. All there installers are fully trained ,gas safe registered and have full public liability insurance. All engineers have regular inspections and go on training courses for safety and updates. All waste produced is packed, sorted and taken away by DHL waste disposal. They have a 24hr call out service in case of any problem with any of your heating system after installation of a boiler. You cannot get a better service then with British Gas and Worcester Bosch boilers. I have a ideal logic plus combi in my own home.Well I did get it for free
This was a public information posting on behalf of British Gas. Not as far reaching as television advertising, but a lot cheaper.
British Gas retro 'fitted' a gas boiler to an existing oil fired CH system in our current house, about 18 months before we bought it. It was an utterly abysmal job and we had issues with the entire system from day 1. As it was still under a service contract we had the engineers out to it 6 times for 6 seperate faults in the first month. One of them managed to (unapologetically) flood our understairs cupboard with black sludge, which was nice. The boiler (Potterton Promax) hobbled on for about 2 years before the unreliability eventually made me get all Basil Fawlty on it's ass. Had an Ideal Logic+ fitted in 2012, and it's been excellent. I've fixed most of the ****ups and bodges, but I still need to upsize some of the pipework as it doesn't circulate properly to the rad furthest from the pump. I will never let British Gas anywhere near my CH system ever again.
Balance is important. (Unless you're a BG engineer, then you just open all the lockshields and hope for the best!)
I can only say reading this thread that ideal boilers must have bloody improved cos the previous one I had was fkn awful .. constantly breaking down. Before changing to them I spoke to a number of plumbers, boiler fitters, and gch engineers who all recommended Worcester which I ended up getting. What the newer ones are like i have no idea but for performance and longevity I can't fault mine and coming up to 10yrs good service
I have an Ideal balanced flue boiler, had it 22 years and other than replacing a shagged fan due to worn bearings it's never missed a beat - I get it serviced regularly and it's still going strong.
It will keep going forever, but it’s efficiency rate will decrease year on year, it will be around 65% efficient compared to a new combi’s 90-93% think of it another way for every £1 of gas you burn, 35p is completely wasted.
