    That's a pretty good point.

Interview stated at one point under Bruce the borrowing got to 88 million, its now down to around 40, which is what they spent as part of their initial purchase / rescue package - so in effect brucie paid for himself.

Perhaps in hindsight that's why Ehab was reticent to criticise Brucie too much in today's interview.

If everyone other manager had got value the same way in terms of player acquisitions/sales and league position we wouldn't be staring at the 3rd tier.

Problem is, without access to the individual credit agreements we don't know whether these were satisfied early, what the interest was or whether Allamhouse decided to take the interest burden /full loan on themselves in order to manage the liability themselves.

Of course I think there's plenty of positive spin in his interview, but I'm quite certain he ain't clever enough to bullshit the whole thing.

Just let's hope someone comes along puts money on the table. If it means a couple of seasons in league 1 then so be it.

To be fair, burns asked the questions and got answers.

Whether you believe them or like them is another question, but he's got further that regard than anyone else so far.

This might be a stupid question but here goes:
If the asking price is £42 million with £14 million to come from previous transfers. So if Prince Ali rocks up with £42 million and tells Ehab to clear his desk, Prince Ali then has £14 million to come off his £42 million. Meaning it’s cost him £42 million.
However if he waits until the end of the season, if we stay up the price drops because we’ve lost some players so the assets are less
Or if we get relegated, the experts now say the club is worth £25 million with £14 million still to come.

so would a potential owner be better waiting for the end of the season, would we be a better buy if we are in l1?

or is what I’ve put bollocks :)

He asked questions. He got BS answers. He didn't follow up but just meekly accepted what was said. As i read somewhere else, it's time to stop giving the ****s airtime (infact it was time years ago). Either that or ffs challenge them and ask the killer questions .... like the old man said you would give it away and that he never goes back on his word, ever, so why haven't you done what you said? And how the **** do you expect to get £30 to £40 million for a club with next to no assets thats losing money, and why did you previously say the price is the debt but now you are talking (in riddles) about expert valuations of market price, and so the list could go on. And to show some loyalty to his 'journo' mates who Enob said were bullying him. FFS grow some.

Fair point I would say, which only leads me to think the Allam's will stay around until this money is in unless someone stumps up the £42M.

Same old same old listening to him droning on, as expected the same spin as usual. I thought Burnsey could have been more aggressive with his questioning, but I guess he is walking on eggshells in fear of being banned again.

The loan outstanding to Allamhouse is the base line for the sale price.

It is not a journalist’s job to hammer an interviewee into the ground, but to ask the questions and give them the opportunity to be heard and let the listener make up their own mind. I think Burnsy did the best he could in the circumstances. Having said that, Burnsy is a generalist - he does local day time radio, local music scene and local football - and was easily fobbed off by the figures and business assertions coming from Ehab. I guess a dispassionate specialist in sports and clubs - someone like David Conn or one of the Athletic’s journalists - would have done a better job at following up some of the weak responses.

The bit that astounded me was Ehab’s assertion that essentially success was too expensive. What’s the point if the club then if we don’t have any ambition?

Ehab or any other football owner would refuse to be interviewed by someone like Conn, and we all know why.

Yes but Ehab did say they take advice from the experts on the value. Assem has said they could have to take a hit

    Same thoughts.

Looking back perhaps it all got too big to handle and not worth the Risk & Agro when things went tits up.

    That’s when they abandoned ship.

they’ll make it sound like they’ve taken a hit but they won’t.

much like never taking a penny out of the club.

The bit about Bolton celebrating staying up, that actually was the final nail in the coffin. The inference being they could afford to be in a lower league, but not the championship. As a business owner, with money in the bank and income to be received from sales, slashing the wage bill 50% as a result of relegation would eek those pennies out. Would relegation be such a disaster for the Allams?
