The Treaty of Waitangi was signed in 1840,it was a peace treaty after the Mauri wars, Between the British government and the Mauri people.
After NZ became an independant country, they set up the Waitangi Tribunal to look at and decide on ongoing disputes, it will probably never end, because new disputes come up all the time, Mauri tribal groups get paid for things like Fisheries, Forestry and many thousands of things, usually as a % of income the government makes. These agreements are made at the tribunal, by the leaders of Mauri tribes and the government, so yes in general both sides are happy.

And I think that was the general reaction, I feel. Are you telling me that you were fully aware of the content of the article & not a whit of it was news to you? I keep forgetting that you know everything about everything, yet actually when tested, know nothing.
I also think you'll find that I clearly stated that I knew nothing about the Waitangi Tribunal, but then had a few quick Googles, & guess what! - I suddenly knew enough to know that you had no idea what you were talking about. For example, I discovered that they are an ongoing tribunal whot have no legal powers whatsoever, and can only make recommendations - which are often ignored by the Government. So clearly, you remember snippets from your time over there & have used these snippets to form a fantasy world picture of absolute nonsense. You purport to know what you're talking about, then foolishly take it further by applying fictitious detail that is easily checked & rebutted. You got it all wrong matey. Again. But then I'm guessing you still believe you got 100% for every exam you took, even the ones you failed. Obviously the teachers didn't know what they were talking about, & you should have taught them!

I simply said that the article provided data that I had been unaware of. It does NOT mean that what I already knew was wrong. It was, in fact, quite correct.
Always grateful to take on new factual data. You should try it sometime - recalling 10 random words from a 10000 word document & making up a story with those 10 words is not taking on factual data - it's creating inaccurate, inarticulate, mis-spelled pish.
