Couple for me at Beverley, 2.45 MANZO DURO 11/4, O'Meara has his horses coming into form and this one just missed out last week. Go one better today. 3.15 LIGHTNESS 6/4, Gosden is winning pretty much everything at the moment and I can see this one coming in too. Again just missing out last time. 3.45 COLONY QUEEN 5/1, very consistent winning 5/13. High draw but can see her going very close.
I thought I'd add some musings around this selection, these are not my words but taken from another Forum. weak race, but after looking more closely Ideal Candy has no blinkers on which looks very strange on her favourite track and hasn't won without them and all recent runs without them have been poor..Last time ran well without them ws may 2019 touched off in a 0-70,hard to understand what they are doing unless it's out for the run..Horse has only ever won two races last was july 2018,but usually runs well here on decent grpund, last season two runs over c/d a 2nd to bollin ted off 70 in a 0-75 with Zihaam 3ls behind in tomorrows race and is also 8 pound better off,Zihaam could still win this if ideal candy doesn't run well..Then in august only 3rd of 6 again over c/d but again a 0-75,tomorrows race is just a 0-63,runs on the aw have brought it down to just 63 regular jock gemma tutty takes off her 3 as well..Now off lowest ever mark, usually goes off 5/1 in higher grade races, suspect without blinkers it won't be at its best but it should shorten dramatically based on those runs and a decent trade would be favourite to win this race if it ran to its best off this mark..Definitely one to keep in the notebook for future ref..esopecially in these 0-63s
I bloody love Nigel Hawke and see his nice hurdler Guardia Top is out on the flat tonight. I suspect that this is just a straightener to have the horse primed and ready for a nice hurdle race in the coming weeks, MR maybe. I have had to throw a few bob ew on his runner in the Kempton 8:25 tonight, LEVEL OF INTENSITY 40/1, as it has back form to win a race of this nature. Its one of those that I know if I dont back it then it will win.
We saw one yesterday of Nicholls’ who looked to be having a prep for the Summer Plate at Market Rasen and obviously Alan King used Royal Ascot as a prep for his horses. Apparently Foxtrot will be having their horse with Fergal debuting on the first day of jumps racing. He comes from a similar route to others that they’ve had good success with at the Drs.
And in the process foiled a plot from a certain stable in Wiltshire. In a field of 17 Tis Fantastic (available at 66/1 in the morn) finished 13 lengths clear of the 3rd home only to get nabbed by Guardia Top. Still hiding my disappointment stocially though...
15:45 Beverley - Aiya e/w (Might well improve on previous efforts. Distance ideal, and well-suited to forecast good/good-to-firm going. Worth an interest at decent odds (20/1 in one place, but 16/1 is the general price at time of writing.) Trainer Tim Easterby's yard slowly getting back to some real form.) (Stable has a few runners early on. In the first race, two are entered, both with chances, but I think I will avoid that, hope I don't regret it! The others I have passed over, although I will be interested to see how the debutante filly runs in the 2-y-o race. Interestingly, T. D. Easterby is the leading trainer at Beverley, and David Allan the leading jockey at this track.) (Took a quick look at selection's breeding too. Sire, Declaration Of War (USA), certainly was no slouch. Finished 3rd in 2013 Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita, beaten a nse and a hd!) Hmm, this is all a bit long-winded for me! No? Ah well. Have a successful day fellas. Good luck with your wagers if you have a go!
I thought Guardia Top especially caught the eye. Can definitely see a decent pot being won by that one in the coming weeks.
