I have revealed my employment in posts and I have formerly worked in the NHS. Nobody should feel they have to do anything. Applauding the NHS and key workers is pretty superficial. Pay me more post pandemic isn't - I don't expect that either.

The knee is already authoritarian. It is an instruction, an order. What will happen to those who feel they disagree with it and refuse to kneel? That choice will not be respected.

In regards to your last sentence. That was wholly necessary. Staff across the care sector cannot shop when they please. The variables across care settings are vast. I was working shifts of days and I mean consecutive days in service due to corona virus enforced staff shortages, then having to go to find shelves emptied. It was not a case of preferential treatment it was a case of keeping what was essential going including the vulnerable people we care for and support.

As far as I'm concerned it's still a free country and you ARE entitled to your opinion.

Re the NHS supermarket thing, my wife is employed indirectly by them as an administrator and has the relevant Id badge. She won't use that facility as she is not "front line" and gets really pissed off with her office bound colleagues who do!

Re The Knee - no I won't do it. Whilst the video footage of George Floyd is unsavoury to say the least, what ever happened to 'innocent until proven guilty'? How the hell Derek Chauvin gets a "fair" trial, God only knows. The first thing I expect him and his defence team to do is get a female, black attorney to represent him in court. It would be interesting what social media comments would come her way!!

Due to the attention and knock on effects its had around the world, Derek Chauvins trial will be one of the most eagerly awaited and reported upon in history, and one way or the other, depending on the outcome, will possibly been seen as a landmark case in years to come, as will the Cop accused of murder in the Rayshard Brooks case who could possibly get the death penalty.

Spot on Angelic. But for the BLM movement, it has to be seen to be fair and above board - at the moment, all we have is a digital version of the lynch mobs of the past! The promoters of BLM have to try to be better than that.

Do you know what, I'm the same........If it had been for a complete law abiding citizen, I would be on their side 100%....But this George Floyd was no angel..And although it was completely out of order what that cop did and nothing justifies the outcome..I feel that Floyd maybe shouldn't have put himself in that position in the first place.........................................there you go, I'm racist as well...

the full story here has not been revealed yet ….. seems to be straight forward but open to interpretation ……… The only time I will kneel on one is before the queen or which other royal wields the sword

    More madness
"England rugby fans could soon be banned from singing ‘Swing Low, Sweet Chariot’ at international matches because of its origins as an anthem for American slaves."
When will it end....oh there's me racist again!!

This coronavirus is the strangest virus I've ever heard of. The way it spreads is so mysterious. It lurks in schools, but then dies at B&Q. It can spread when buying clothes at M&S but not at Tesco.
It is non-alcoholic. It can't spread when you are buying beer. It lives for two days on Amazon boxes, you must wait 48 hours to touch them but It can't survive on takeaway coffee cups, so enjoying a hot cup of costa is safe.
It is the most curious thing, how it lives on footballs, ballet bars, even loo seats but dies on WWE ropes.
It is spread by hair stylists, dog groomers, and dentists, but not by bank tellers, cashiers, and fast food workers. It's so smart. It won’t bother the first 10 people but it knows when the 11th person shows up so be careful if that’s you!
If you want a massage or your nails done it is very actively on the prowl and not even a mask can stop it but If you need a plumber, it is weak, and a mask will keep it away. It also seems to be most dangerous after 5:30pm so businesses must start to close before the virus comes out and wreaks havoc upon the populations.
Whoever heard of such a smart sneaky virus?!?

I keep asking myself - Why do the media and opposition hope/want the government to fail in fighting this pandemic ?

Because they've nothing else to do at the moment other than try and score cheap points here and there.
They're not fooling me, and thank God that Corbyn and Abbott didn't win the last election.

I'm beginning to think Starmer, Ashworth and Nandy are far more dangerous.

    Cerebrally challenged, definitely not.
But the new lot are cute. They make out there's no criticism just scrutiny. With the undying help of the BBC and other media millions will be taken in.
Starmer's a shoe in in 2024 then may the Lord help us.

one of my CMorning friends just reported a conversation with an ex student of his in Brazil … he has just recovered from CV had no medicine to speak of and went through 72 hours of sheer hell trying to breathe almost 3 weeks of sheer hell he lost 27 kgs … now weighs just 73kg and can hardly walk. Lives in a small township of about 4000 people about 80 people have died in the time he was suffering. No one goes out and food is almost a luxury ….. when told just 45000 had died in BRAZIL he said impossible more like 450k!.... [ likely not that high just a figure of speech but higher than they [gov] says ]

Starmer and co are a time bomb waiting to go off ...they encourage the .gov to spend more do this that and the other to build up a debt that easily will exceed the last labour black hole then heaven forbid should they get back in power next time use it to cover their inadequate government … or as opposition use it lambast the .gov for not doing enough to fulfil their promises of 2019 … evil beings

So Avon & Somerset Police now want the help of the general public to help identify 15 people that they wish to speak to about the criminal damage caused to the Colston statue when it was torn down.

    Good luck with that !!

Maybe if the Police had done what they are paid for in the first instance in terms of keeping public law and order and protecting general areas from damage, and had made arrests while the protest was taking place they wouldn't look so pathetic now.

I fear you're right as we are today, but 4 years is a long way off yet. I don't think BJ will still be the Tory leader in 2 years time, he will be toppled.
