Our numbers are probably about 25% of what they were 2 months ago and going down, another month and who knows, France and Portugal seem happy now, only us putting quarentine on people returning stopping things with them.

To put this into context and not to make it into yours is smaller than mine type of argument we have a third of your population and in the last 3 days you have had more than 3x the total coronavirus deaths in Australia. People say we live in a large country with a small population but most live near or in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane Perth, Adelaide, Hobart or Darwin oh and a few in Canberra. I'm glad your numbers are going down but we haven't had a coronavirus death in quite a while and new infections have been below 50 a day for quite some time with little or no community transmission.

Now Jonny, the first thing I said in my original comment was in no way shape or form did I condone his killing. The point that I was trying to make was that he wasn't this angel martyr that people are making him out to be and although he didn't deserve his death, IMO he contributed to it. I heard that report but did not hear the details. Perhaps the thought is to just have a larger sheriff department to do all the law enforcement there?

in many jurisdictions, police departments get funds for community programs beyond traditional policing budgets. This call is to give those funds, e.g., for school education about the dangers of drug use, to other departments, say social services to carry out those programs. Does not have an impact on the funds for traditional policing, e.g., cops on the beat.
