If it was going to fail, they'd just fail it and release a statement afterwards. I find it odd that you release a pre-emptive statement of checking all evidence, which is what we would fully expect you to do, and then fail it right afterwards.

I would expect a statement like that to be before a pass, as it gives the opportunity to say you definitely checked all the evidence and came to a pass anyway. This is even more so because the takeover is going to be so controversial.

He basically sympathised with Her buy couldn’t reveal anything and that all evidence would be thoroughly checked under the rules. Basically no exceptions to the rules.

Seems to me that when you use the word sympathise that’s indicative of an outcome she won’t like.
