I would surmise that a decent percentage of the excess deaths were due to the ICU's being full of coronavirus victims taking up the space on ventilators. Many other causes of death are down though, for example, road deaths are down quite a bit.

I read somewhere that new cancer diagnoses are down by about 60%. Which is a bit of a worry, because I doubt if cancer has gone away.

At the height of lockdown they estimated 2500+ a week were getting missed. Awful.
