I was watching the protests in Santa Monica last night, police were trying to keep protestors from shopping areas, to prevent further looting, as well has they were all breaking an imposed curfew. It was shown where a young woman, holding up a sign saying peaceful protestor, stood in front of a store, to stop it being looted. What looked like organised gangs within the protestors attempted to move her out the way, but she refused to budge, eventually a big guy went up and stood beside her as support. The looters moved on. It was quite pleasing to see someone have the bolloxs to stand up to them. As many protestors have stated, outsiders are congregating within the protestors to commit crime.
Something clearly going on, off the back of the protests. I've heard so many protestors say now, they are peaceful and they are not the ones doing the looting, last night was clear evidence of that. Let there be no misunderstanding, George Floyd was murdered, all the cops need to be held to account, the police in the US need to change, some protests have been wrongly handled, appallingly handled. But it was refreshing to see evidence of peaceful protestors standing up to the looters. These were high end of the market shops, not even food stores.
In the background I think Antifa and White Supremacists are taking advantage to suit their own agenda. And dare I say I wouldnt be surprised if certain law enforcement agency operatives as well. Just my opinion, big part of the problem is it's hard to tell who is or isn't.
I couldn't say, all I think is they are criminal gangs, what category they fall into, I've no idea. All I know is they are using the protests to commit crime. Naturally once a window goes, you will get opportunists, but when you see a well dressed white man, walking out with a rack of clothes, something tells you all is not what it seems.
Anyway, back to being about the victim George Floyd. I thought I had watched the full length video of his killing, it was just over 5 minutes long, pretty sickening to watch, and the bystanders seemingly unable to help him, big question mark over that last aspect. However, I've seen it said, that the cop was on him like that for 8 minutes, also Sucky mentioned 9 minutes last night. That means there is still 3-4 minutes of unseen footage, evidence. That's excluding whatever led up to the killing. I did see another video though yesterday that was taken from a CCTV camera near-by, it appeared to show something going on in the back of the police car. I'm not sure if the victim, was in the cop car, then later dragged out for some reason. However, it showed the same cop, the one that stood between the killer and the bystanders, standing there once again without concern or any actions of motion for whatever was going on in the back of the vehicle. Watching 5 mins of it, seemed a lifetime for the poor soul underneath his knee, and to think now, that I probably only watched half of what occurred just beggers, absolute disbelief.
Some humbling pictures overnight of some US police forces taking the knee out of respect for George and also as an apology for the scrum that has shamed the uniform ... guess what? ... potential powder keg confrontations diffused as a result ... hopefully Wiggy the Satsuma takes note that this was far more effective than threats to shoot ... but I won't hold my breath ...
There's videos, showing people running along shops, smashing all the windows with a hammer. Then off they go, to another shop and do exactly the same, without going in any of the shops at all.
It's such a shame that they have such a dickhead for a president at a time like this. It's clear there needs to be radical change within their police force and within the training, even from a protest perspective. Sadly all Trump is doing is fanning the flames, and that's sad, because I hate to see a country get destroyed and people so angry, when all of this along with the killing was so totally needless, it's heartbreaking to watch all aspects of it.
