Former chancellor Sajid Javid said in a letter to his constituents that Mr Cummings's 260-mile trip from London to Durham was not "necessary or justified".

"I do not believe Mr Cummings' journey to County Durham to isolate on his family's estate was necessary or justified," Mr Javid said, as reported by his local Bromsgrove Standard newspaper.

"I remain unconvinced his visit to Barnard Castle could be considered reasonable."

Really hope Cummings stays. It makes the portrayal of Johnson as just a puppet s so much easier.

I'd say get used to it because after it's all an illusion of choice this democracy game..........corporations take us where they need us....... Shame on brits for not seeing what's happening.

First thing you've said that makes any sense, but it's hardly enlightening or new as it's been the case forever. And they've always co-operated with each other when their objectives have aligned, and started wars when they haven't.
But, when they get too big for their boots they get taken down.

What a load of bollox

I do wonder how anyone can think our government has done a good job.

NO MENTION of family help in Durham NO MENTION of their son going to hospital NO MENTION of driving for an 'eye test' You have brought shame on the office of PM.. https://t.co/B0rd6vvBdp

She's gonna need to spend about a month in confession, after that pack of lies.

Vomit inducing stuff.

Never understood the "prize" before an insult tbh.

Prize prick, sat about?

Durham police have said they don't believe Cummings commited an offence by travelling to Durham. In regards to the trip to Durham Castle, they have said there was a minor breach, but do not intend on taking any action.

Edit: I'm not sure if that 'was' or 'might' have been a minor breach.

No need for that bollox tbh. Though a fair few others getting fined won't be too happy. But the idea either Neil Ferguson or Cummings should be investigated by police AFTER the event was always stupid imo.

They’ve said he DID breach the lockdown rules, only they’ve said it was a minor breach and they won’t be prosecuting retrospectively.

A breach of the law is a breach of the law, I don’t understand why they’ve added the ‘minor’ element to it, but hey ho.

I do. Limited resources mean the police have to be selective about what cases they follow up on.

I really don’t blame Durham police for giving this one a swerve. Can you imagine the agg they’d be inviting from all quarters if they prosecuted the PMs advisor? I’m sure they don’t need it.

He's got away with it . It turns my stomach but he has .

Lets move on .

GOD .

Is She Black ?

In one sense Jasper you are right. Cummings is going nowhere and it’s something we should probably all accept.

He hasn’t got away with it though; there’ll be a price to pay at some point, for him and for Boris.

There’s an old Arab saying; “take what you want and pay for it.” Because in the end, you always have to pay.
