Devastating new claims have emerged that Dominic Cummings further breached the lockdown rules, as Downing Street came under sustained pressure to fire the prime minister’s most senior adviser.

The new testimony suggests Cummings left the home where he was staying in Durham to visit a town 30 miles away.

As Cummings faced calls to resign from across the political spectrum, the government was forced to defend his actions. Ministers insisted he had stayed put once arriving at a property in Durham, where he had travelled after contracting the symptoms of coronavirus to seek the support from his extended family.

Cummings was seen by a witness in Barnard Castle on Easter Day, 30 miles away from Durham. The town, which takes its name from the English Heritage site at its centre, is a popular destination for days out <laugh>

Robin Lees, 70, a retired chemistry teacher from the town, says he saw Cummings and his family walking by the Tees before getting into a car around lunch time on 12 April.

Yes. The Mirror must have known this when they ran today’s story, so they’ve stitched the Tories up like a ****ing kipper. <laugh>

He's fcked up in 2 ways. One the sightseeing excursion ffs. The second the return visit to his parents after coming back to London.

If true, how the fck did he think he would get away with that! Oh my mistake of course he would, their arrogance, there is no accountability <doh>

He won’t go .
After 2 visits which makes today’s excuse absolutely worthless and errrmmm a lie?

No, he’ll go, this makes his position untenable, particularly given the entire senior cabinet have defending his actions today with their ‘great parenting’ angle, as he obvs didn’t share the fact he went twice. So he’s made them look like a set of chumps. He’s toast.

I bet he’s still in the role on Tuesday.

Reactions: Number 1 Jasper
All depends on public opinion. It's about 70% against him anyway which the government probably thought they could ride out. IF these new allegations are true (and they appear to be given it's the public who have witnessed them) then public pressure will force Bojo's hand.

Having said that, I reckon they could gut a virgin on the steps of number 10 in some some satanic sacrifice and eat her liver and they'd probably still not be held accountable in today's politics.

I think the only thing that is keeping Cummings in his job is current timing and nothing more. By that I mean a weekend, going into a bank holiday, and parliamentary recess, so it becomes more difficult for the media to hold individuals to account on a face to face basis. I really think the media need to start tightening the screws on this one, and keep applying pressure.

he can do wtf he likes as far as I'm concerned. seems like a big noise about nowt

Might seem a big noise about nothing to you, but i've been arguing this for ages, about ppl who think they can do what they want, when others are following the guidelines.
