Ok got you . I think he did self Isolate , but not until after the 250 trip . I THINK we agree on the fundamental Flaw ?

Yep although does self-isolation start immediately upon having symptoms or is it ok to visit others and then starting your 14 days after this.

And we'll have to take his word for it regarding any interaction with others during the journey or with others in that house when he got there.

Tbh I don't give a **** what happens to Cummings. He'll be back in government soon enough even if he's sacked. What's worse is the fact that we live in a time when politicians can break rules, do what they want and those in charge will shamelessly defend them to the hilt. It's the lack of integrity of those defending him I find abhorrent. I'd have more respect for them if they say, yeh he fcked up but he's staying.

On a point of ordter M'Lud i should point out he is neither a politician nor a member of Govt .
He has far more power than that <laugh>

Sorry . I thought I made it clear in my first post that I think he did self isolate for 14 days , but not until he had travelled 250 miles and the inevitable stops on the way .

To make it 100% Clear , he should NEVER have left his home .

Johnson had a choice today. He could have stood by the policy that his Govt insisted was followed by the entire nation during lockdown, and therefore sack Cummings.

Or he could send out the troops to try and defend the indefensible with some utter tripe and whataboutery.

He chose the latter and in doing slapped millions of the people who voted him into power firmly across the grid. Do as we say, not as we do. You have all made great sacrifices, we can do what we like, as we operate under different rules. It’s an insult to every family who’s self isolated, been kept from their family and parents, missed funerals, not seen new borns etc etc etc. It’s a massive error of judgement.

<applause>

It’s quite telling that they’d have had the chat this morning and decided not to go with admitting he was in the wrong, saying he’s very regretful or some bollocks but won’t be sacked. They’d have looked like ****s still but it would have admitted some wrongdoing. Flat out refusing to acknowledge rules were broken and having that haggard old bag stand there on the stage making up new versions of her previous mantras just sends out the message that they’re untouchable and there’s **** all anyone can do about it. There will be another scandal in a day or two.

Sadly I agree .

Agreed, they do what they want.

And on your last bit, there are those who were in more difficult positions than a couple with a 4 year old where one wasn't even showing symptoms at the time of making the journey as Shapps replied. As I posted earlier you have single parents, guardians, carers and foster parents who would've been in that position and not ever considered going to their elderly parents because it would've been an insane thing to do given the clear self-isolation rules as well as the risk to their parents.

There's an article in the Guardian today by Jonathan Freedland, saying that the electorate will forgive a government being heartless, so long as it is competent; it will forgive a government being incompetent, if it's heart is in the right place. But it will not forgive a government that is both heartless and incompetent. We'll find out soon enough if that's true.

if im nuts for not voting, what does it say for the people who voted for this self harming party.
