Unfashionably late, but the person with a goth as his profile pic has finally arrived!

Given my lack of awarenes of the subject (music-wise) you've suddenly made me feel welcome after all the abuse (teasing) I've had so far.

    I'd never doubt anyone's taste in music - it's a personal thing :emoticon-0148-yes:

To be fair tc, you've clearly not got a bloody scooby what goth is <laugh>

But I imagine most on here have one genre they are completely unknowing about.

As I stated in post # 14 . Lost in the mists of time musically (even ignored) , historically crystal clear.
However, Alice Cooper & Black Sabbath are in my collection - so what the **** do I know ?

There's plenty of music out there which isn't full-on 'goth' but can definitely toe the line. Stuff like Sabbath have a lot of gothic imagery around them, like a lot of metal bands. Artists like The Smiths are definitely not goth, but lyrically they definitely can get pretty gloomy like a lot of gothic music so do have some common traits.

The Cure (and Joy Division) might be the most influential band on modern indie - so you can hear bits of gothic influence in a lot of modern independent music.

The Idiot is definitely a record that had an influence on gothic tunes.

Wasn't it about Iggys girlfriend, so more personalised to him, though to be fair to be Bowie he released it to help Iggy out with a large tax bill he had
