I wonder what the guidelines were before the lockdown considering they haven't even been published yet.

No offence to Ellers but his post comes over as a bit condescending to teachers, who I now totally realise do an amazing job and have the patience of saints.

It would be a bit like me, who does a bit of DIY, telling you how to do your job safely.......probably wasn’t meant like that but came across that way

It's not so much the schools being good but what goes on inside them. He was at ofsteds top rated school in west yorkshire. Massive drug problem.

Not really. Don’t have kids.

The missus went to Charters which I know is pretty posh but Brackers was flagged as not being great for schools as a negative of buying here. Much as I like my place the plan is still to move by the time I’m thinking about stuff like schools.

Just look up the road from you, there is a church school beginning with R. Was one of the best non paid schools in the country. Still has one of the highest achievement rates. Charters was a good school back in the day.

Staines Have a lot of time for teachers... quite a few of my mates are, including Uni lecturers, Headteachers, and special needs teachers. I would never disrespect the jobs they do, never. So I find it strange that you think that? Nowhere in my postings have I said anything against teachers or the great jobs they do. All I did was say what I had done. I also remember replying to Bobby giving an account of a family friend (headteacher), so I am surprised you thought I was being condescended?

It’s just that with the crap I’ve put up with trying to home school my 3 for the last few months, dealing with the tantrums, rows and shouting (from me ), I’ve got nothing but respect for teachers and what they do. I certainly couldn’t do it that’s for sure...I just haven’t got the patience.
Funnily enough, the twins got a call each from their teachers this week, just to have a chat and to see how they were getting along. It was great to see my lad with ASD who’s face lit up when he got the call....it meant so much to him and brought a tear to me eye.

It’s just that with the crap I’ve put up with trying to home school my 3 for the last few months, dealing with the tantrums, rows and shouting (from me ), I’ve got nothing but respect for teachers and what they do. I certainly couldn’t do it that’s for sure...I just haven’t got the patience.

No worries Staines and good luck with the homeschooling. Must be hard with work/life and Kids. I'm lucky that mine has left now. I'm a bit gutted that I didn't do any English Lit stuff while in Lockdown.

I can honestly say it’s been a real struggle for me.....maybe it’s different for the kids being at home with more distractions but it’s been really difficult and the numerous rows and shouting matches do nothing for my MH.
I feel really guilty afterwards but the frustration of trying to get them to do simple maths and then getting it wrong for the 20th time is infuriating.
As I say, I really couldn’t do it for a living.

If you ever get bored during all this, I recommend going in the ‘open University website and looking at their free online courses. Something for everyone and might relieve a bit of boredom.
