Tour to Paris is one that jumps out in the first at longchamp . Been running unsuccessfully over various trips and ground but has won over a similar distance and ground . An ew punt for me. Cheers.
Obvious treble but... Victor Ludorum (Fabre reckons he is Mill Reef) Tropbeau Sottsass (not won first time out is a worry)
I have a double on Victor Ludorum and Tropbeau at the opening odds of evens and 7/4. Also have them for the Guineas races. I did a couple of singles and a double for the Guineas on Helter Skelter at 12/1 and Khayzaraan at 5/1 because I thought their odds were bigger than they should have been and they may be the dangers in two Guineas fields that don't have a lot of depth. Victor Ludorum may be odds on for the Guineas if he does the business today. In the 11.25 Race I took Chorba at 15/8 because she impressed on her debut late last year. I think she should go well on the turf as opposed to the polytrack she started out on. Prominent all the way that day, she kicked from the front and soon had the race under control. I was a modest enough contest rated 75 by the Racing Post but it was done in good style. Mazagran actually got a higher rating of 77 for being 4th on his only start and is a War Front colt trained by Andre Fabre. He seems a huge price at 20/1 in the same race. Sottsass was too short to do in a treble, so I left him out in case he isn't fully tuned up with the Arc likely to be his priority this year. Jean-Claude Rouget will not be a happy camper with the early start today. I read that he feels it is uncivilised to have racing before you have had your lunch.
Have to have a stab at some of these 09.55 Duhail 10.25 Big Blue Sky 11.25 Chorba, Speak of the Devil ew 11.55 Victor Ludorum (nap) 12.25 Quiet Times ew 13.05 Simona
Last time I had a bet was the virtual grand national which seems quite a while ago . Have backed the following today: Longchamp 12.25pm Khayzaraan 7/4 win (Taking on the favourite with this one who could be special. She looked impressive in her last run of last season). Longchamp 1.05pm Simona 12/1 each way (Not sure if good enough but won last two and will like the ground) Good luck all.
Ecrivain Dream and Do Shaman Mazagran Opposing the favourites, each-way singles and doubles. Subs paid to Ladbrokes
Disappointed with Chorba today. After virtually making all last time and kicking from the front they decided to hold her up near the back this time. I always feel it is hard to gain ground on very soft going and she never had a prayer of catching them. She did make some headway but met with minor interference and I am sure she is capable of better when the ground is less testing. 16/1 winner Shinning Ocean was quite impressive and he was 4th to Ecrivain, who runs shortly. On the very soft ground he may appeal as an each-way with eight runners.
Had a little ew on Pisanello at 25/1 in the hope it can beat one of the front three, unexposed. VL looks well
Victor Ludorum a big flop, was far too keen but that will see a massive shake up in the Guineas betting
Really poor from Guyon on Ecrivain there, finishing with a ton in the tank hands and heels, I think hes a serious horse for the Jockey Club and probably has a good chance in the Guineas as well. Fabre was concerned about Victor Lodurm doing too much early last year and he looked very keen before the race, ran with the choke out and he might be going the wrong way mentally if thats anything to go by. The winner will be tailed off in the Guineas.
The first burst bubble of the season. Andre Fabre comparing Victor Ludorum to Mill Reef was however jokingly framed lies in tatters. I thought he travelled OK, the expert felt he was a bit keen but that is his style. He is a horse that takes time to build his run and the winner had flown leaving him a lot to do. He tired in the end and was caught by Ecrivain for second and barely held on for third. If you backed Helter Skelter you were goosed within seconds as the jockey put the anchors on at the back. Learning absolutely nothing from the previous ride on Chorba, Cristian Demuro repeated the tactics and Helter Skelter was never put in the race. I suppose Victor Ludorum could come on for the run but that was a hammer blow that left the French Guineas looking very confused, I'd probably be leaning towards Alson if forced to pick one now.
I didnt realise there was betting up for that, i checked on Friday I think, would have definitely taken the 25/1 if I knew.
