Personally I think that the article, as is sadly often the case with DM's pieces on QPR, is overly negative and tends towards the self-aggrandising.
Yes, he's clearly a very clever guy, with good ITK contacts, but I think he's fixated on always being seen as the straight talking guy, who speaks the truth, goes against the grain and says what needs to said. I just think that's become a kind of reflex for him, a habit that always colours his thinking. The club say something's white, so he says it's black.
I read nothing in the article which convinces me that we'd be better off not having a top class academy. The academy is meant to be a long term project, not something we decide to bin just because Brentford happen to be doing reasonably well at the moment.
And surely it's not an either/or situation anyway. I don't see why we can't give good players a second chance AND develop our own players from youngsters at the same time.
It's just my humble opinion, but I hope that the new training ground goes through quickly and that we are able to develop our academy there. It would be nice to see us make a plan and see it through for a change.
