These laws are an embarrassment

Going to buy a yacht

Sail to Monaco

Shout abuse at Monacoger from the poop deck

I don't have a problem with it. I don't find it offensive, despite the intention for it to be delivered as a Religious and ethnic slur.

My problem is the need to find a moral equivalence. The justification here is that because the term Hun is used on here, then the equivalent is Fenian and that should be used too. Intellectually that doesn't make sense.

The Huns are going to complain just as vociferously about this new legislation, but their response thus far has been to announce that the legislation isn't clear enough on how the Celtic support should be judged. You can find it on here, all the doofuses congratulating themselves on throwing a barb at the Celtic support.

I understand calling a Hun a Hun bastard is offensive and will fall foul of this new legislation. I also understand that calling a Celtic supporter a Fenian bastard is a racial and ethnic slur and will fall foul of this new legislation but the 2 terms are not the equal and opposite of one another.

I don't see how Fenian can be racial, ethnic or religious.

And you are correct, both terms are not the equal and opposite of each other but they are both deemed unsatisfactory by the various legislators. So in that aspect they are equivalent.

The equivalent of Tim is Billy but I never hear Celtic fans using that, they prefer to use hun which quite frankly, like fenian, is a banned term.

I think my point is proven. Just because they all had a shared background is isnt the be all and end all. Fact is non catholics wouldn't join a club set up by an Irish immigrant for starters. Secondly many organisations are made up of similar backgrounds, doesn't make them sectarian outright. If they were bigoted against others then fair enough, but if a group of like minded men set up an organisation to help the poor of all backgrounds then it kind of counters your argument.
Further as simple as labelling them as a sect doesn't mean the discriminated or were bigotted against anyone different

As suspected though you have proven you don't really understand the sectarian issue. Which is why youll never be rid of it

Aah right, so a sect isn't a sect when it involves the Irish. I get it now. <doh>

<Laugh> You don't have a clue do you???

You can't even read what sectarianism is and work it out from there. I give up all hope with you lot

I can't believe this eejit is saying Billy is more acceptable than hun, one of these names has direct religious connotations the other does not. I'll leave it to you to work out which is which!

And I have never ever heard a Gers fan refer to himself as a Billy except in some horrible songs or if their name happens to be William.

And I already told you so is "Tim" <ok>
