I agree the Saudi's are a cruel, mysogynistic, racist, backward country, but........

It's all very well the Guardian getting on it's ethical high horse about the Saudi's involvment in football but it conveniently turns a blind eye to the trade this country does with Saudi Arabia. They should be lobbying the government first and then they can lobby football IMO.Sport has long been used by the media and politicians to publicise their own morals where they like to use it's high profile to do what they should be doing by political means.
The 1980 Olympics is an example where governments pressurised the olympians to boycott while still trading with the USSR.

Strong UK trade links

Saudi Arabia is one of the UK’s most important trading partners. The UK exported £6 billion worth of goods and services to Saudi Arabia in 2018 (ONS, 2019). British companies present in the market include Shell, GlaxoSmithKline, BAE Systems, Rolls Royce and Unilever.

Opportunities for exporters
There are opportunities for UK companies across a broad range of industries. Our trade advisers in Saudi Arabia have identified particular opportunities for UK businesses in the following sectors.

Anyone see the Motd thing last night with Lineker, Shearer & Wright on bonkers PL moments?

Very entertaining with some interesting back stories including Mark Dennis turning up at training with his brother and old man to fight Chris Nichol.

I could listen to Wright talk for hours. Well worth a watch on iplayer assuming it's on there.

Actually preferred it to the normal motd if I'm honest seeing as we lose most weeks.

Next week's could be interesting. MLT will surely be a strong candidate. Although whether or not he wins could hinge on whether Shearer votes for himself!

Beattie and Niemi are outside bets for being named in the top 10.

What is next week's?

I find Shearer a bit dull really but as mentioned think Wright is brilliant. Loved it when he first spoke about the referee incident - 'No I can't talk about that, look there was no cameras so there's no proof. Actually, it didn't happen" <laugh>

Top 10 players from non top 6 PL clubs.

Tbf, they didn't define exactly what they mean by that. I've taken it to mean someone who has never played for Utd, City, Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea.

But it could mean someone who has never finished in the top six. If so, then the likes of Shearer and Vardy wouldn't qualify. But the likes of Klinsmann and Kinkladze would.

In the 80s it was the"Big Five" with Everton in that group while Chelsea and Manchester City were yoyoing between divisions. So if things continúe to evolve, then perhaps Wolves and Sheffield United will have replaced Arsenal or Spurs as a top club in years to come.

Match of the Day: Top 10 podcast - players outside the 'big six' - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52440999

@st_brendy looks as if it is just excluding the big 6, but no place for Shearer? Which seems odd.

Did Canio the only one who comes close to Matty from that list imo.
I guess Shearer hasn't got a big enough ego to be included on more than one list! Le Tiss has got to be number 1 with Di Canio 2. Any other top 2 and I'll be astonished.
