We've had a good few decades to turn our education virtual, if Hong Kong can manage it beggers belief that we can't. Teachers in this age of technology should have the tools and ability to be ahead of the game. Nowt wrong in parental teaching but it can never substitute for trained teachers.

We had a million people volunteer, there is no excuses, we are not utilising these people to it's full strength. Evey disabled or elderly person should be able to have delivery as well has basic care under these arrangements.

Mental Health is on its knee's don't make excuses for them, there are people not getting the support they need, because they join the queue as this crisis gets worse.

The government will talk about Covid death rates but not a breath is expelled on how many suicides have been commited during this pandemic, but those latter deaths don't matter as long has they can report daily, how fantastic it is that they have so many spare hospital beds.

But hey as long has people can buy paint.

Virtual education is not a patch on face to face teaching imo (but maybe thst is just me being biased) but there are online lessons taking place but the infrastructure in education has been decimated with the austerity measures so compuers, laptops and ipads etc are all old as there is not the money to replace them.

Mental Health support is bring delivered but, like other public services they fo not have the staffing levels or technology to cope due to the austerity measures.

What has been shown by this is that, firstly, staff in these (and other front line jobs) are dedicated and hard working and secondly, that if you cut staffing levels and resources to the bone then it is very difficult to cope in a crisis.

Like I said, my fear is that these services will again be tsrgeted to save money to pay for the astronomical cost of dealing with this. Yet the NHS, education, mental health services etc etc will be still dealing with the fall out for years to come as politicians go bsck to playing their "there is no money tree" game.

These services save lives, relationships, improve the life chances of people snd help society to function ... that costs money and for a very very long time politicians have ignored these facts.

This is not a dig at one political party (as Labour impised some awful cuts to public sector pay, jobs, services snd pensions) and nor is it a dig st snyone one here cos I have no interest in a slanging match.

I don't really understand the paint thing...think I have missed something
