I remember going to the ground as a kid and there was always someone at the home games who would do a very loud and random high pitched kinda scream for a good few seconds. Anyone remember this and what the hell it was all about?

Yep remember that - one game a friend of my Dad's had a couple of tickets for the East Stand so went in there (only time I think) - that screamy arsehole was about 2 seats behind me - scared the ****ing crap out of me when he started <laugh>

I used to have season tickets in the East Stand and I can’t remember anyone else screaming when I was there!!!

I don't buy into that idea of turning the ground 90 degrees. So the only realistic sizeable expansion of the ground would involve purchasing the land at Strawberry Place and extending the Gallowgate.
If a move to a new home was to be considered, it'd have to be central. The only central site I can think of is the soon-to-be-demolished Arena, which would be plausible and has decent infrastrucure.
From a romantic point of view I'd want to remain at St.James, but a move would better enhance the city - with an extendended Leazes Park and a massive regeneration of Skinnerburn/Scotswood.

The redevelopment of Strawberry Place is going ahead and there is no hope of the club buying back the land that Ashley scalped off for £9 million, the Arena site is actually a good idea as there is considerable additional land alongside the arena on a brownfield site, given the finance this could produce one of the best stadiums in the country if not Europe, it is the only viable site within the city. I don't know if people realise it but the freehold of the ground doesn't belong to NUFC, it is actually held by Newcastle City Council, the stadium is effectively worthless in property terms to the club, owning the arena site and additional land for a new stadium would make better overall economic sense in the long term.
