If Nimer cannot provide proof of funds by the summer, then I would hope the EFL would rule he is not fit and proper to own an English football Club. They should then rule that Duchatelet is still the owner of CAFC, with all the responsibilities associated. If the EFL does not do that, or if Duchatelet refuses to acknowledge his duty of stewardship, the Club will no be able to play in any league. There will be no money to pay staff or players, and no way the Valley could get a safety certificate. Grounds will still need to be certified as safe even if all games are going to be played behind closed doors. So the Club would be closed down. At least that would deny more entertainmant to Mr Duchatelet (and Millwall & Palace fans) who would enjoy reading about Charlton putting out a team of academy kids and hapless volunteers, who would get thumped by cricket scores every weekend until the end of the season when they would have failed to even register a positive points total. Still, I have been told it's not about the result. It's all about the match-day experience.
This is a scenario that could easily happen. Dushitelet has kept well out of things, and no doubt for a reason. Good or bad, who knows? You put things out very clearly, my acting Deputy chum. I think MANY fans do not realise how close to folding we really are. Does not606 cater for level 10 clubs?
That's a point. We'll lose our forum (on top of everything else) if CAFC goes under. I've been thinking of starting up a website for Charlton related stuff. Maybe I could have a forum section on it too - to act as a kind of 'lifeboat' should other forums close. If folks knew where it was at least they could meet there temporarily, until other arrangements are made.
Am I right in thinking the EFL Player Registration Embargo was applied on 8th January? If so, this is DAY 102 and still there has been no proof of funds from ESI. Where's the money Mr Nimer? How can you buy Baton 2010 from Roland in the Summer if you can't even pass the EFL fit and proper person test?
Well done the EFL They've taken long enough, but I guess they have finally concluded that ESI are not on the level. Three and a half months waiting for proof of funding is ridiculous. Presumably after they were offered all kinds of assurances back in December (now seen to be worthless) that everything would be fine. Now come on EFL, be strong and do the right thing. Strip Nimer and his criminal buddies of their right to be CAFC Directors and owners. Give Matt Southall his 30p back and tell him to f*ck off. And give the Club - the Whole Club - back to Roland Duchatelet, and make it crystal clear that it's stewardship is still HIS responsibility. To paraphrase Kevin Keegan I would "just love it" if the EFL could prove Roland knew what Crooks and swindlers Nimer and Southall were when he carved up Charlton Athletic and sold the Football Club to them for a quid. But I don't suppose we could be that lucky.
Unfortunately they are just about our last hope now. Them, and possibly the ex-Directors. But none of them has the money to run CAFC now as far as I know. If Roland won't take responsibility Charlton Athletic is finished. Maybe that's what he wants. But if he imagines the Club will just die quietly, and he can then sell the land without any consequences, he truly is deluded.
I wouldn't hold a grudge against whoever buys the land from Duchatelet. That's just business. And whatever gets built on it just can't be helped. I'm sure the apartments will look ten times uglier than the artist's impression on the hoardings, as (curiously) that is always the case. Artists impressions of some of the most evil and miserable housing estates from the 60's and 70's made them look like little islands of paradise. There was always something spooky and totalitarian about that. Roland will discover however, that having is not as satisfying as wanting.
Crooks always say they will cooperate with enquiries. Just more lies. They'll be shredding the paperwork - if they even care. I never thought we would see more prolific liars than Katrien Meire at Charlton Athletic, but Nimer, Southall and co. make her look like an amateur.
I welcome this news. Nimer has 48 hours to show the EFL he is legitinate, or Charlton could be docked up to 12 points. If that points deduction takes place, no amount of blustering will fool anybody. ESI will be exposed as a great big fraud. Next target - Roland Duchatelet.
Duchatelet has done nothing wrong in the eyes of the law. He's sold the footballing side of the club in good faith. The EFL have done nothing wrong either. They cannot stop Roland selling the club to whoever he wants. But, they can stop the new owners from passing their fit and proper test if they do not fulfill criteria(which they have done). This could mean that they can take away their license to operate within the league, which would see Charlton expelled. You could argue however, that the EFL shouldn't have handed over the £4M loyalty payment to these scammers. Guarantee every single penny of that is long gone.
