****ing hell, these doctors seem to be looking at him terrified and keep having to say 'Under the President's leadership'. It's like those Idi Amin press conferences in the 70's when you knew he had their families locked up with petrol-filled tyres around their necks in case they didn't extol him enough.

I’ve noticed that everyone who speaks has to give the President all the credit. I studied American literature/history at uni and had no idea that the POTUS was all powerful. I suspect he/she is but this is the first time such power has been abused.

They could be giving him the credit to distance themselves when the **** really hits the fan and this idiot is no longer in office.

CNN keep quoting something called the Hay (?0 Act, I think. Basically, he's legally not allowed to turn these conferences into party political opportunities. Contrast his briefings with Cuomo. But as Trebs says (and you'd know this from studying US culture), he panders to a hard third of their electorate, and the ultimate last laugh is on us as he gets back in again in November.
