At the beginning of this season I was hoping that we would hold our own and consolidate our place in this division and get promotion next or the season after to the premier,,,after our fine start I'm now hopeful of at least top 6 and play offs at least ,,,some fans though seem to now think it is a must otherwise a failure and some of the comments regarding dropping 2 points away even though we are still top beggars belief,,what kind of reaction and attitudes will we get from these people when we hit a bad run or the weather makes the kind of football were playing difficult and have to grind out the points ? Not sure were equipped for that. Thoughts

I am sure we will have bad spells and feel it's too early to over-worry about dropped points, but I am expecting top 6. We are an exciting team and will beat most teams in this League. There I have said it.

Nowadays the quality of the pitches don't tend to suffer when the weather gets bad(except l1 and l2 pitches),I reckon 90% of premier league and championship pitches are of very good quality so I don't see this changing the way we play.

If nigel aims to stay top, like he said in his interview and cortese says he wants us to be champions, like he said in the sun who are we to disagree? from what i have seen of this league so far from attending matches and games on tv i think there is nothing for us to be afraid of and should definitely go for top spot.

It's a long season and the difficult thing for Nigel is keeping everyone involved. They all know that if their form drops off there's someone waiting to take their place. Do you know..I think the most frightening team in the league is Saints.

I'm hopeful we can keep it up. You shouldn't expect anything in Football, especially in the Championship.

I'm not expecting anything (if you expect too much, that's setting yourself up for a big let down) but I am hopeful.

I was absolutly gutted not to win at Burnley not because we deserved too but because ive come to expect Saints to win every game we play. For me Burnley Away was a reality check. We have just come up from League 1 we are going to drop points.

At the start of the season, my expectation was somewhere under the playoff places, but well away from relegation. I hear NA keeps mentioning being in the top ten by January. Well, yes that's what I expected, but was hopeful for more. Typically in this league, any side seems capable of beating any other. But some are more capable than others, and Saints appear to be very capable. I still don't expect any better than upper mid-table, but after this super start, I'm now hopeful of much, much more.

I believe Burnley are in a false position and will be top 10 by the end of the season, so a point there after coming from behind is more than ok.

My expectation from day one has always been to finish top six at least. Obviously though nothing is guaranteed and if Lallana or Lambert or Fonte were out injured for a lengthy spell then that would affect us. You cannot legislate for injuries. All you can do is manage what you have at each moment in time. I think we have good strength in depth and all things being equal we are as good as the best in this league. However, there are probably 6-10 strong sides and nothing can be taken for granted. We've had a good start and I'm still confident we will be at least top six come the end of the season barring any major disaster.
