The more you look around, the more it becomes apparent that for a European nation that values liberty and democracy, the place to look for allies is other European nations.

Oh...

It's all hypothetical I don't think it will ever change, but my feelings are no one country should ever have so many others reliant upon it in every way from security to currency.

The only way to overcome this is for nations to be bold enough to make those links between themselves especially in terms of trade AND by dealing in their currencies. Why should the global currency be the dollar? Why should 60% of the world's reserves be in dollars? The lazy answer is it's the most stable but that's because one goes hand in hand with the other. This happens to be just one massive link in the chain that ties the world to the U.S. and it's one that's worth breaking imo. This isn't anti-american, I don't give a **** what country it is, I don't want any one nation having that much control over others. And the world would be better for it.

I also don't believe there should be 5 permanent members of the U.N Security Council. How the fck is that democratic? It was ok I suppose 50/60 years ago but it's now made the U.N. largely impotent and irrelevant, and the main reason it's so impotent is because it is anything but democratic when the will of the majority can be fcked off by a veto from one single nation. The world needs to move forward ffs, but that discussion is another matter.

Having strong ties with European countries doesn’t equate to being in the EU. You can have strong ties and be outside. And his point was about not relying on one nation so relying on the EU surely falls into the same category?

Obviously you had to take the opportunity for the brexit dig though.

Didn’t mention Brexit mate.

Forgot how touchy the right wing snowflake community was, soz

Couldn’t name you one song of his but is he that bad a person? If I didn’t know any better I’d guess this stuff has come from an unsavoury source.

I like Sam Smith, oh **** not his music but does a lot to promote the importance of mental health issues, same as a few famous people, wonder why he gets singled out for criticism.
