That’s a harsh way to put it but people are taught to believe there is only one god as the other ones are not real.

The Bible mentions false gods like, divine rebels who imitate God and try to take the place of God. The Bible does say God is unique as it's God who creates everything, no other being has that power. So I suppose in that sense, yes there are no other gods capable of creating life but it doesn't say other divine beings don't exist or interact with humanity. Quite the opposite at times.

Suppose somebody wrote a bible about the other gods i would dare say they would say the other divine god doesn't exist if it interfered with their only god?

I also believe if you took X amount of people from birth and never mentioned god to them in their entire life they would live a normal life like everybody else and still snuff it at the end just like everybody else. What do you think?

Aye, I agree. Any thing any one believes in will always bring the possibility of demonising the opposition. Look at people's political positions and how that happens. The 'Christian Religion' (catholicism/protestantism/and every other denomination) has a history of doing it to both non believers and believers. That does lead me to believe they either haven't read the bit which states flesh and blood is not the enemy or they're not paying attention to it.

The evidence certainly suggests everybody dies. As for your question, no idea. I have no way of being capable of thinking what some imaginary people would do and it have some sort of bearing on how I think about the Bible and the narrative it tells. I'd rather just compare what I read with observations of the world I live in and see how they match up.

The God of Christians, the God of the Jews and the God of Islam IS THE SAME GOD.
This is not an opinion. Neither Islam or Jews deny Abraham or even Jesus.
It is MANKIND that has debased each of these ethical beliefs. Men have hijacked and misused other men for their own ends.
I do not believe in an omnipotent being - but good people do - I believe these good people are used by leaders for the leaders own ends either politically or fiancially.

Looks like I turned this thread on it's head!!!

I said to my boss a little while ago that there are distinct similarities between Star Wars books and the Bible - his response: "They're both complete works of fiction"

My in laws are Jehovah's Witnesses. My Father in law preached to my daughter about "Ours is the one true god" and I asked him not to as we don't believe in god. His response - "As long as you repent before you die you'll be ok"

If there was a God, how could the current situation wouldn't happen. My 14 year old cousin wouldn't have been killed in a hit & run by a stolen car back in the day (Her parents were big Christian believers before that - Atheists ever since!). What did Bradley Lowery or any other child dying of cancer do to deserve what happened/is happening to them? God is the most powerful apparently - yet the Devil (according to my in laws) can do these things - so surely the devil is more powerful!!

Jews, JW, Catholic, Orthodox Christian, CofE, Muslims, Buddhist - off the top of my head and there are loads more - apparently There are some 4,300 religions of the world! What makes your god the one true god?

The Bible says bad **** happens as humans decided they didn't need God in their lives and created a world where we decided what was good and what was evil instead. The God of that Bible certainly claims to be the one true God and claims to prove it by predicting future events, some of which have happened, some of which haven't as yet. I suppose the main one for me was for the nation of Israel to be wiped out, it's people cast across the world and then for it to come back into existence. That's a bold claim to make and it actually happened.

Judaism, Islam and Christianity all disagree about the identity of Jesus tbf. Judaism doesn't recognise him as the Messaih and neither does Islam, both seeing him as a prophet. Islam takes it a bit further with the line Allah has no Son, which is very oppositie of Jesus' claims to be the Son of God. To go all New World Order for a moment, I do think the 'It's all the same God' is the program moving forward for a unified global religion.

Ah so it’s humanity to blame for Jessica and Holly being raped and murdered by Ian Huntley? Our fault because we decided what was right and wrong! God couldn’t stop it (because he’s not the all the bibles make him out to be? Or simply because he doesn’t exist? Or, if he does, he’s a twat!!)
4300 gods and religions. What makes this one the true one? Or, in a bible written hundreds or, more likely, thousands of years after his “prediction” be predicting something? How can the people who write this “know” this is what happened?

they can’t! They made it up to suit. If there was a god, how come men of the cloth have been found guilty of molesting children? Surely he can step in there? These are “his” people ffs!

Never forget that many times more lives have been lost in the name of the particular branch of religion accepted by the idiots who believe in the self promoting preaching of their particular faith leader (under whatever title) than have been lost in all of the none religious wars and pandemics that have ever impacted upon the planet.

The moral of the story is that to become a strict adherent of any religion is far more likely to impact upon an individual's health/mortality than any virus.

It is a human to blame when a human acts badly imo. That's free will at play, you act bad or act good. I mean, you could say God is to blame for giving humans free will. And seeing as God knew that giving humans free will would lead to most of them rejecting God and creating a world of ****, he always had the option of not creating humans. But he also saw some humans wouldn't and would try to follow his commands. And regardless of faith, everyone gets judged. You'd have understood that if you'd read the Bible rather than pretending to know it's contents tbh.

As for men of the cloth behaving badly, you said it; men, not God. The New Testament is full of warnings about those who would be false Christs, using his teachings for their own purposes. So they aren't God's people at all, they're the wolves in sheeps clothing that are actually warned about in the Bible. So again, it's only people who haven't read it yet think they know the contents of it that fail to understand this. People like you for example.

Aye, the prediction of Israel being destroyed and regathered was written thousands of years after the events. Erm, how could that happen when Israel ceased to exist in 70 AD and was reborn in 1948. And it was written in the book of Isiah, which is about the 7th century BC. How about one that hasn't happened yet though? This from about 90 AD; 3 nations will gather together from the east (of Israel) and invade Israel with an army of 200 million people. But it will only happen when the river Euphrates dries up. Guess what the river Euphrates is doing. That's right, drying up. Did they make this up as well?

We seem to be taking some funny things for granted here, mind :emoticon-0111-blush

I've found I've been taking my life for granted tbh, which is why I've dived back into reading my Bible. I'm only going to get a certain amount of days, I am going to die, and the vast majority will go about their day not even noticing I've passed on. So while I am here, I'll be a lot more thankful of the time I have and pay more attention to living by the teachings of Christ.
