You do realise that it was "Nil by Mouth" who stated that "hun" was sectarian? I take it you also know that they figured this out by asking a clasroom full of Primary school kids what words they knew that were sectarian?

Interestingly enough the same kids also said "Tim" was sectarian.

You are the one who said Celtic were founded as a sectarian club. Go on back up your statement. My thoughts are your attempt at backing up your point will prove you don't understand it. But you could prove me wrong? So go on......or you could ignore the question and post stupid pictures to try and cover not knowing what to post

At a time when Rangers had a mixed team and had many catholic's in their team Celtic were formed for the Irish immigrants in Glasgow, in fact they stole Hibs' irish immigrants in order to form a full team.

Just in case you don't know, Irish immigrants would constitute a sect therefore the club was formed for sectarian reasons.

I think my point is proven. Just because they all had a shared background is isnt the be all and end all. Fact is non catholics wouldn't join a club set up by an Irish immigrant for starters. Secondly many organisations are made up of similar backgrounds, doesn't make them sectarian outright. If they were bigoted against others then fair enough, but if a group of like minded men set up an organisation to help the poor of all backgrounds then it kind of counters your argument.
Further as simple as labelling them as a sect doesn't mean the discriminated or were bigotted against anyone different

As suspected though you have proven you don't really understand the sectarian issue. Which is why youll never be rid of it

Back to the original subject, I've never found Fenian offensive and never quite understood how it could be. Sure it may be generalising someone who has no affiliation with Irish Republicanism just because of their ethnic background - but that's about the worst that could be said about it.

Something that does irritate me about the whole Old Firm business is how we can make up pet names for each other one week and the next week they are deemed sectarian - whereas in the likes of England supporters can get away with being at each others throats all the time without accusations of it relating to some deep rooted tribal hatred.

I don't have a problem with it. I don't find it offensive, despite the intention for it to be delivered as a Religious and ethnic slur.

My problem is the need to find a moral equivalence. The justification here is that because the term Hun is used on here, then the equivalent is Fenian and that should be used too. Intellectually that doesn't make sense.

The Huns are going to complain just as vociferously about this new legislation, but their response thus far has been to announce that the legislation isn't clear enough on how the Celtic support should be judged. You can find it on here, all the doofuses congratulating themselves on throwing a barb at the Celtic support.

I understand calling a Hun a Hun bastard is offensive and will fall foul of this new legislation. I also understand that calling a Celtic supporter a Fenian bastard is a racial and ethnic slur and will fall foul of this new legislation but the 2 terms are not the equal and opposite of one another.
