Just been listening to Grant Schapps on ITV News following a survey by them on the extent of coronavirus in carehomes. They've grilled him on the discrepancy in figures between their survey and government figures. He didn't know.

More than 40% of carers surveyed in an exclusive poll for ITV News say they are dealing with suspected cases of Covid-19 in care homes.

Providing the largest snapshot yet of the crisis in our care sector, the survey of over 2,800 carers found 42% were looking after residents who had suspected Covid-19 and 28% said they were dealing with cases which had been officially confirmed.

Furthermore, 12% said that they were aware of staff who’d also tested positive.

On Thursday, the Health and Social Care Secretary Matt Hancock said that only 15% of care homes had reported cases.

Fair enough mate, I could've been clearer. I'm not posting to rile anyone btw, just in case you think that, I just start the day with a round up of the news I see.

On the guidelines themselves, still think that's a bit stupid. If we're supposed to be isolating, doesn't make sense to be able to go to your friends for a few days (iirc). Or maybe it just shows that sometimes these isolation measures aren't practical because couples will have serious domestic issues and where do they go?

My first thought was this might be because of the rise in domestic abuse cases but it seems like the guidelines were knocked up pretty close to the lockdown so that put doubt over that. If that’s not the case then it seems a daft decision and now that it’s in the public domain people will almost certainly now see it as a loophole to go and session with their mate for a few days. That video of them all on London Bridge last night seemed irresponsible as well regardless of the good intent behind it.
