I know what you and Stan mean. I haven't had it in about 26 years thank God.

Just out of interest, does anyone take the annual flu vaccine? I don't as I think (rationally or irrationally) that it will weaken my immune system over the long term. The only times I've taken it was when my missus was susceptible to neutropenia and it would've endangered her if I got the flu. But otherwise I don't and tbf I haven't had it in a fck of a long time.

Btw wtf was that report on ITV News at 10 about the number of NHS staff and policemen being attacked and having their homes and cars vandalised. I kept asking the kids, what the fck is that about? None of us could figure out why there were so many numbers of this happening? I'm still puzzled wtf that's about.

I have the view that if it has a vaccine, then I don't need to worry about it.

Yeh, I know! But I doubt I'll change.

You’ve created a league table and in your table you’ve deliberately put the UK 4th for effect even though we’ve got about 5 thousand less deaths than France. That is clearly your biased agenda at work.

You won’t acknowledge other mitigating factors and anybody who tries to bring them up for debate, you belittle them and mock them.

There’s only a massive gap on paper between the top 5 and the rest. They’ll be a lot of countries massively minimising their figures so that huge gap might not be there that you’re screaming about.

Surely it’s not just the government to blame? What about us, the citizens? So many haven’t stuck to the rules and are openly flouting them.

I’ve already said, though. We should be letting the bodies go cold before using them as political battering rams to beat the government with.

If people were tested as having it then once they were recovered they could go to work safe in the knowledge they are not putting themselves or their families at risk.
If the test to show if you had already had it, that would do the same.

As it is people are having to self isolate on a guess which inturn is causing their families to self isolate...even though they already may have had it.

On the flip side people who have it but have minor symptoms are going to work, using public transport etc without knowing they could infect others.

So for me tests would achieve some thing as lots of essential staff such as NHS workers, Shop workers, delivery drivers, firefighters, police, public transport drivers, emergency call centres, care staff, council workers (refuse workers, road sweepers, care staff), school staff, postal workers etc would know it is safe for them and everyone they come into contact to continue working.

There are plenty of reasons to doubt China's governmental honesty without it being xenophobic.

    1. They have a terrible human rights record.
    2. The appalling treatment of Uyghur muslims in Xinjiang.
    3. Their interference in the troubles in Hong Kong.

    I could go on.

I ain't a conspiracy theorist and have no truck with xenophobia but I struggle to believe that China had approx 3800 deaths but approx 3500 were in Wuhan alone.

All good points... but they are also support the view that China would react rapidly and dramatically to any perceived threat. Can you imagine what would have happened here if London had imposed a total lockdown on Manchester or Birmingham as soon as infection numbers started to be a concern?

The difference is their populace knows all too well what happens if you don't tow the line.

That is why I do believe they will have contained this much better than a western democracy could ... the numbers are a distraction but the point stands <ok>

I think there are some lazy assumptions based on not a lot going on recent history that you can take what western authorities say as a given and others are going to be more prone to lie or control what is put out. Do we really believe our government just because we’ve had decent, honest leaders in the past or Trump because there have been great presidents? Probably a bit more than they deserve on their own merits.

Saying that, 200 Corona deaths in Russia sounds a bit fishy.

My only disagreement was the Xenophobic part mate...I think it is possible to doubt the honesty of the Chinese Government without being Xenophobic.

I have no idea if their figures are true to be honest.

It is hard to learn from someone if they are a proven liar and that is a big issue.

I hope for the people that China contained it and kept the deaths down to less than 4000 and wish I could simply believe it was true.

The orange one is now saying he is going to start relaxing the restrictions as early as the end of this week. Potentially millions of people are now going to get caught in the crossfire, just to keep his election dream alive. A bullet would be too good for this ****.

All true as far as it goes.

But I am still uneasy with the “let’s blame it all on China” approach. Look who is doing that, and ask yourself why?
