It’s a mystery mate. The ONS figures are meant to cover all deaths, but they are a few days behind. The numbers we get on a daily basis are hospital deaths only. I think. The was an ITU specialist on telly yesterday who was comparing COVID19 to sepsis, though he stressed that they are not the same, he said the treatment, in the absence of anything specific for the virus, is currently very similar.
The daily reported deaths are hospital deaths only, as far as I'm aware. On Andrew Marr this morning the question was asked about care homes and community deaths, and apparently these are collected by ONS, and there's a time delay on these figures, so they are not counted. Sounds like a cop-out and the figure of actual deaths will be actually much higher. We've had at least 30-40 deaths in care homes up here which aren't counted in the figures, but I'm sure Marr quoted as many as 1000 deaths in care homes across the country which weren't included in the figures
But if they say every elders death is down to COVID then wouldn’t the death rate be Overstated ? Seems many are being linked to the virus when the patient has a lot of comorbidities that were gonna kill them....likely through chest sepsis or the like.
Yeah that’s my take on it.....very hard to say what is ‘sepsis’ and what is COVID without the test as similar symptoms eg Pyrexia, increased RR....and as I told you before, most bodies aren’t now gonna be tested. Its all rather odd
Well yeah if you only included previously totally healthy people we wouldn’t be talking big numbers but I think it’s fair to include anyone who died with it even if they were very ill and didn’t have long left anyway.
Not saying you’re wrong, but would that be a matter of opinion ? Are you saying that COVID would always be a factor in the elders death.....not sepsis ? As I say, not arguing the fact but trying to get my head around it.....I’m going from one side to the other and back again at the moment.
Of course. You have to test people to be sure which then allows you to trace their movements and see who else is most at risk. Our lack of testing has been abysmal but it’s fine because Germany manufacture a lot of stuff.
And that’s the thing, they are not testing the dead now......so seems wrong to add a death to the figures that might very well of not had the virus. My heads spinning and I’m going out for a run to think about it some more.
Anybody else seen the stories about this NHS app thing to get us out of lockdown, about tracing those who have tested positive and telling us when we might have been exposed? Now this is one to look at closely in terms of civil liberties, as essentially it allows the government to track your movements.
Seems to work well elsewhere. If it’s a choice between risking misuse of the info by the government- even these ****cunts- and being able to crack on with life a bit again and not lose even more of the economy it’s worth it IMO.
Surely again, without being tested for this disease then it must be deemed unreliable. Rita down the road feels unwell and says she THINKS she's got it. I had contact with Rita (i squeezed her bum) so I might have it. Unless someone has actually been confirmed with a test, then got the all clear and is back amongst the public, then what use is it?? The truth is, it all comes back around to testing or lack of it.
Well there’s that, it only makes a difference if there is a huge expansion in testing, that fact that it needs 60% of us to load and use the app, and the basic concept.
Your call pal. I've been streaming stuff for years, and downloading before that.... Ever watched any football streams that are put on here? Risk is the same, I'd imagine
