I do wonder what will occur in the future, if a vaccine isnt produced rapidly, the virus isnt going to just die out. Herd immunity you would think would be the only way to go.

The world cant stay on lockdown for ever. Do either of you have any thoughts on how it will go?

Do you have a clue?

Just a complete coincidence that the WHO recommends testing and tracing, and the countries that have done that have fewer deaths then?

"Nothing more the Tories could have done. I mean they could have followed the advice of experts but who would have thought of doing that without hindsight?"

BTW vaccines are not cures anyway.
Nope, no clue. What does testing actually achieve?

As an aside, are you aware there is a shortage of testing kits?

You can Google that later. First why don't you ask yourself why doctors are calling for more tests, and why now everything is out of hand the government is finally promising to start actually testing if it does nothing as you believe?

I heard on the radio on hmmm, Wednesday i think, that people are making them with 3D printers, this would probably be at a rate of 1 every 3 mins or so, not very helpful.
The truth is that the PPE business, like any other, is geared up for supply/demand, unfortunately the present demand is way beyond their capacity to supply and idiots who went out and bought existing stock to wear whist driving around in their car haven't helped.
This is not a UK only problem.

Like I said, I'm not going to RIP the back out of them, I'm sure they are doing what they think is best. I also havnt been keeping massively up to date as it depresses the ****ing life out of me.

It's a struggle all over, there are no easy answers, in hindsight I expect they will be pulled to bits.

My expectation is that we get over the worst, drop restrictions and then keep getting smaller outbreaks that are not as heavily reported until (as you have hinted) herd immunity kicks in fully.
Deaths in old people are easy to pass off as Pneumonia, most are put as that on certificates anyway without recording the cause which led to it.

There are easy answers but Johnson didn't want to be unpopular and delayed, just like Trump has been doing. As a consequence the US and UK will suffer significantly more than most, if not all, other countries.

A vaccine should be available within a year, until then just help as many people as possible.

Which really pisses me off, i would like to be told exactly what they should have done every step of the way, preferably before they do it and not in hindsight <laugh>

I've said before I think they acted to slowly. There is no excuse for this as you could see how it was going in other countries that where already into the outbreaks.

They've made errors, even at the time you could see a lockdown was needed earlier than it was implemented.

Some things though are 50/50 depending on what your priorities are. Chatting to a friend and he posed the hypothetical would you let 20,000 die now so in the future millions arnt plunged into debt or destitution with the associated deaths and destruction that would bring?

I dont think I'd like to be the one making the choices

Your friend is living in the real world mate, these are choices we hope we will never have to face because we know that those who make them will always be wrong to some people whichever way they go.

Sinapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, Ireland, Chile, Peru, Norway... long story short the USA is the worst and the UK is the second worst.
But do you believe the figures coming out of all them countries?

We know for a fact our government is lying about numbers, and we're still 2nd worst in the world

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...care-home-deaths-in-daily-uk-coronavirus-toll
Great article mate, estimated despite the official figure, concerns deaths were not being reported in a timely manner <laugh>
Actual figures (in that article) show 20 deaths in a week in care homes attributed to COVID19, hardly worth adding to the daily list is it and not being hidden either.
I am sure someone of your ability can divide 20 by 7 and add them to the daily list so we are not all being miss-led.

Just to re-iterate, one of the biggest causes of deaths in care homes is pneumonia, the main cause of death in COVID19 cases is pneumonia, do you see the problem in making a distinction here?

<doh> 20 is the [HASHTAG]#official[/HASHTAG] number that IS included. The real number is in the hundreds.
