Don't mention the Aluminium .

They used to recover old cables . Not done that for years now , so when A duct is full , they have a duct overlay . I kid you not !!!
Lots of lead coated copper still in the ground. We used to get out what we could and cut it into metre long sticks.
Pre 92 it was approx £3 per stick for 100pr.Probably alot more now.

Like you said there is a fortune , but they don't even think about it . I remember Redbridge yard ( Southampton ) and then Nursling used to have CAGES FULL of recovered cable !

Now like you say it's just left there .

You wait , some young whizz Kid will come up with the idea of a cable recovery system . Who'd have ever thought of that <doh>

And they'll get a bonus and a Pat on the back :steam:

I made the decision about 2 years ago to boycott Virgin, for reasons of my own (they're just a **** company to do business with). But when I tried it was impossible - no one else has fibre optic cable in my area, and the woman from BT told me if I switched to them my broadband would be slow.

Did the check last night, BT cable now fully operational in my area (they weren't last time I checked).

One of the first jobs when this is over, **** Virgin media right off.

Will be done with pleasure.

We dont have to deal with that up here .
All KCom lightstream and a very good service it is .
Not cheap though but does the job :emoticon-0148-yes:

Just to redress the balance; even though their coffee is rank, Costas didn't hesitate to retain all their staff on full wages, for an initial period 8 weeks. I'll be keeping a close eye on what they do if the lockdown goes on longer than that, but for now a good start.

Will leave it pending then?
